Really the best place to go is The Broadmoor. It's a bit pricy, acutally it's really pricy, but my mom and her friends have found fabulous deals through online travel sites for spa weekends.
BTW: you have to go to Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods!
I completely agree with misscookie... I've stayed at the Broadmoor and it's hands down the best place to stay in the Springs. Make sure you try to see red rocks too, it's very beautiful and you'll never see anything like it again!
Have fun!
I've stayed at the Broadmoor and it's "okay". You pay a huge price for a pretty run down room to be honest. If *I* were you... I would stay at The Blue Skies Bed and Breakfast. I've stayed there and it's awesome and the owners are wonderful and will accomodate any request. It's not like a "normal" bed and breakfast, there are individual "cabins" so you really have privacy and don't have to worry about being quiet. I love it there and go every chance I get. Here is there link http://www.blueskiesbb.com/
And don't let the "Manitou Springs" scare ya. or the little extra rate. You get a really good homemade breakfast brought to your door every morning and that's definately worth it. It's right there in Colorado Springs at the base of The Garden of The Gods which is truly incredible. ![]()
If you want to be close to Pikes Peak for the Incline and the Cog railway, and close to garden of the gods, then I would try a b&b in Manitou Springs (Briarhurst, RedCrags, Onaledge, Rockledge, Cliffhouse, BlueSkies, etc...). They are really cute and close to Old Colorado City and downtown Colorado Springs. The broadmoor is beautiful but does not have a view of pikes peak and if you squint you can just see garden of the gods.
Thanks for your help. I tried doing a search for hotels and B&Bs in the area and got completely overwhelmed by the volume of choices.

FH and I would like to spend a week in the Colorado Springs area, but are completely at a loss as to where we should stay. We're looking for something affordable ($120/night or less) that's conveniently located for mini road trips and sight seeing. Any ideas?
