I have not tried this. but I think if you are that worried about the dye it sounds like a great alternative to get the look that you want.
I say go for it but tulle can be a PITA to sew! So make sure you have a good seam ripper and some extra tulle :)
@ MsPanda- I know that the biggest thing thats scaring me.. but my friend keep remiinding me it's just the undergarment know one is going to be super close to it but your hubby and he wont notice if it gets messed up, She did hers with hot glue and i couldnt even tell. I'm def getting extra tulle..Keep your fingers crossed :)
I dyed mine the other day and it was very easy:

Although sewing sounds like a good option :D
@ teamajax13 - yeah I'm a little scared about doing it PLUS I have a front loading washer and I have NO idea how that would work. But I found a place that has the sewing bonding tape which means I would have to worry about sewing it I will just use the bonding tape.. I'm so excited. I have a DIY Project to do when I get home.. YAAY!!
There is a photo in the DIY gallery of a bride whose mom sewed colored tulle to her dress. http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/blue-tullecrinoline
@Wiscbee - Thank you I've been looking all over to see one that were sew in instead of dyed. I think it's a little bit safer when it comes to actually doing it. I would have to worry about being scared :).
BTW .. Super excited to try this myself.. I went to the fabric store and VOILA-- found the perfect colors to match me wedding. The black is my main color the silver is my accent color and the pink it the color of my flowers and my honorary bridesmaid dress... I'm so excited I will be sure to upload pics of my DIY Attack lol.. I have to do it all tonight, because I have a fitting on weds I can't WAIT to see all of the colors... My co-worker said it was perfectly me.. Always doing something different to surprise you and it looks good. I'm so famous for mixing up patterns and stuff.. :)
Here's my colors...
Excuse the santa claus card in the back lol.. I'm at work. .
I had mine made off etsy. When I showed my mom, her jaw actually dropped! She was NOT expecting that. It's kelly green too, so definitely a big surprise lol. I love that pop of colour though and it's so fun! So do it!
@Ryansgirl - I love the Kelly green color. My mom was a little concerned when I told her my idea but then when I explained it to her and I explained about adding the tulle to the dress.. she thought and said you know what that is so you.. You have to add something to make it stand out lol, plus I'm the girl who made a bathing suit out of Skittles for a photo shoot.. and wears mismatch socks just because lol.. to see a pop of color from under my dress shouldn't surprise anyone at all lol!.. Besides No one will see it until I lift my dress to walk and at the garter toss. Which I think will probably be the 1st time people actually see it. I'm super excited and I will def post pictures to let you know how it turned out.. Do you have a picture of yours!
Well she's DONE... :) I didn't add alot of tulle because I #1 don't want to burn up that night. It kinda hot in that thing. #2 I didn't want too much pop so here it is..
Sorry so big... this is what it will look like when I pick the dress up to walk.. well of course the dress will be on top.. I'll take pics when I go weds with the whole thing together.

Crazy tulle CRINOLINE... Thank ladies for the support... :) I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's under my dress.. :)
Thank you.. It was super easy and it actually help the slip because it doesn't sit so flat on my legs it actually made more room underneath for me to walk in... however it's going to be HOTTTTTT.. in the slip and dress.. UGH.. Do they make fans I can underneath my dress to keep me cool lol!
I'm a very hot natured person and I asked my venue to have the AC a little low. They said no problem, they get that request all the time from brides. Maybe give em a lil puppy dog face to make sure it's set on 70 that day. But before you do that ask yourself, would I rather be hot or cold? I'd rather be cold any day.....

Soooo I've been seeing all of these post of these colored crinoline and I want one ... I don't care if it matches my dress of color scheme but I have to have one. But then fear hit me and I thought hmmmm if I dye it I could mess up royally and then what so I've decided to get some tulle material and add it to the crinoline slip that way I can have black and pink along with the tulle that's already one there without running the risk or messing it up with dye.. Has anyone tried this thought about it etc. I'll will hopefully get it done before I have my next fitting on weds so I will def post pics.
Oh yeah this is my dress...
