I’m really torn on whether or not to dye my petticoat.
I’m intrigued because my whole “theme” if you will is a lot of white and gray with little pops of blue and purple. I think that a little secret pop of color would be really awesome, since it won’t be seen that much except when I walk down stairs.
However, I also kind of like just the idea of clean white.
I just can’t make up my mind. I need opinions! Thanks, bees 🙂
I would love to see pictures if you did this.

Unless you’re having a very funky, off-beat wedding, I don’t think they’re very appropriate. I was at a wedding where the bride dyed her crinoline, but they also wore aviators, converse, and the bride and two bridesmaids had purple streaks in their hair. It fit her personality, so I thought it was fun. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be a huge fan of it.

I sooo would have done it if I would have known you could actually do that! I had no clue until I joined WB after our wedding..lol

To me it really depends on the dress, can we see what yours looks like?

As long as it matches your colour scheme, I think it looks neat.

I love them I can’t wait to wear one. I love how they add a splash of colour to the dress.

I LOVE colored crinolin/petticoats. My colors are red and orange with some yellows and tans thrown in (Fall colors obviously) but my shoes are teal blue (for my something blue) and I plan to dye my crinolin a teal blue as well 🙂

@abbie017: I’m having an overall “classic” theme with funky pops of color. So I don’t think it would be innappropriate. Although, I think the clean white would fit as well. Hence, why I’m torn 🙂
This is my dress. My shoes are gray, and you can see a bit of the slip when I sit or walk down stairs.
Thanks so much for the opinions!

I had one and I loved it and so did everyone else who saw it! We had a formalish nautical wedding of navy gold and white but I wore an ivory dress with a navy blue crinoline and I loooooved how it added a bit of flair & fun to my simple yet elegant bridal look.
i don’t think they are tacky at all! just another way for you to personalize your look!

My friend did this for her wedding and it looked AWESOME! As long as you’re not having a super duper traidtional wedding, I think it’s great.
Here are pix from her: http://offbeatbride.com/2009/09/wyoming-backyard-wedding

@KimmySumShuga: Your pics are what convinced me to love colored crinoline 🙂

I’m not normally a fan but I think it depends on the dress and the colors.
The PP above with the blue I think is really cute! The dark blue looks really nice with the white. But I’ve also seen some that for whatever reason (either dress, or color) I just didn’t like. So definitely depends on the dress!
For instance, I just wouldn’t like it with an all lace dress. Maybe it’s something with the romantic feel of the lace versus like a bright pink color, for instance, that just throws me off.

We just had our wedding and pink was in our colors, not to mention my favorite color so I dyed mine and then we dyed husbands socks to match! :o). I also did my shoes with Swarovski rhinestones :oD

I love them! I had one for my wedding and I thought it looked very classy. The reality is, no one will really see it, but it definitely pops in pictures.

I love all the pictures!! You all look so gorgeous and I don’t think it looks tacky at all! I think I’m definitely leaning towards dying it! I love the little pop
