I got some great clear diamonds but still having a love-affair with yellow diamonds, I just love them. An anniversary present then!

I totally agree with you, they are awesome!

I’m not a fan of diamonds, period (they’re my birthstone so I always felt I got kind of cheated that way), so my FI had a ring custom made for me with a marquise cut green tourmaline. It changes colour depending on what kind of light is shining on it; in direct sunlight it’s a vivid jade green, and in artificial light it looks more like a dark green sapphire.

I have a colored diamond ring!  My FI picked it out completely on his own and I really love it.  It’s a natural blue diamond with two white/clear diamonds on the sides.  The only picture I have of it is a crappy cell phone pic, but I’ll post it here anyway.  🙂

I don’t have a digital camera yet, but when I do, I’ll try to post better pictures of it.  It sparkles so beautifully, and that picture just doesn’t do it justice!

I also got a lot of weird looks from people when I showed them.  Most thought it was a sapphire (which is actually what I asked my FI for), but when I tell them it’s a blue diamond, they look at me like I’m crazy.  I don’t think people realize that diamonds come in other colors.

I think colored diamonds are really pretty! I probably wouldn’t want it for my engagement ring just because I am very traditional but I would love them in any other type of ring.

Also, @linguo42:  I LOVE your ring!  Stunning!  I have a ring that was given to me that my great-grandmother wore all of the time that has leaves just like yours.  I have a soft spot for rings with leaves.  😉

@aixnok:  please, pleeeaaase post a pic of your ring!!  i have this unhealthy obsession with champagne diamonds and cushion is my favorite cut.  i asked the hubs for either that or a sapphire and recieved the latter, which is very beautiful and i get a lot of weird looks and comments on it so don’t feel bad at all. some people only know one way to do things and every other way is wrong to them, don’t pay any mind.

anyway colored diamonds kick so much ass!  i’m pretty sure the graded colors are more rare and costly than a “clear” diamond that is not colorless-if that made any sense.

@lindsayB-love the color of yours, it’s like a super saturation aquamarine!

I really, really wanted a pearl. I got a white diamond–which I love–but a girl who goes against the flow is one after my own heart and thus, I love a girl with a fancy colored diamond!

And to date, although none of my friends have gotten colored diamonds, half have gotten white diamonds and the others have: sapphire, alexandrite, ruby, and opal–all of them stunning.

FH got me a rhodolite garnet ring because I can’t stand diamonds, colored or otherwise (aside from the occasional canary diamond, which I think can be quite beautiful).

My engagement ring does have a little ‘bling’ – but the center stone is a natural pink/red sapphire.  I’ve always wanted something a little different but I love it – and I get so many compliments on my ring!

I really liked champagne diamonds, and wanted one for my center stone, the color is so beautiful.  I was told it was a bad idea, bc champagne diamonds are “flawed.”  I love the ring I have now, but I still really like colored diamonds.  I’m thinking of getting my wedding band set with black or champagne diamonds.  And this time I don’t care what anyone says.
