I'm ordering orange, red & yellow paper lanterns to hang in a tent for my wedding in August. I'm going to make throwies for the lighting. I'm not sure if I should just order white LEDs for all the lanterns or should I order red LEDs for the red lanterns and amber LEDs for the yellow & orange lanterns? Any advise?

    Thanks!

I would think that it depends on how rich you want the color of the lanterns to be. In my opinion, a white LED will make the color of the lantern itself a bit softer, and a colored light will make the color of the lantern more rich because it wont be as harsh a light trying to shine through. That's just my thought on this. I would suggest doing a trial of the different lights in one lantern to see which you prefer. :)

I think it depends.  The white lights will probably be brighter, and you can order them in bulk because you'll use them for all three.  The colored lights could bring out the colors of the lantern, but I would worry that they won't be bright enough.

I would say white - white lights will be brighter through the colored lanterns. Color lanterns and colored lights will not be as bright (and more expensive probably for the lights).

Thanks for the responses! I think I'll go with the white lights as suggested! By the way, the white lights are more expensive then the colored ($0.31 white vs $0.19 red/amber)

    Thanks!

The one thing to be aware of is that the "white" LED lights tend to be quite blue in tone.  Thus, you may want to get "warm white" ones available from Buy LEDs Online, or else to mix in at least some colored lights.
