Rhodeygirl- I too want the look of both. So, I have decided that I need to be two shoe bride. Why not?? One for the wedding and the other for the reception. Problem solved!! Hope this helps.
Breaking up the tradition with brightly colored shoes sounds very cool to me. I think I saw this as a new "trend" somewhre, actually. If you've got a traditionally floor length dress, then for the most part the shoes won't show. But if the occasional glimpse shows off a fun, bright color...then I think that'll look great! I'd say, even at the church, go for the fun shoes!
I'm in love with pink, everything and anything pink is fabulous!! I love pink!!
My best friend from the third grade and my daughter both HATE pink - with a passion!!
My favorite color before it was pink was red (also my initials) so since I am going to marry a man who lives, breathes, and bleeds Cardnal and Gold (USC) and we are getting married at USC, you betcha, my colors are Cardnal and Gold (don't say red and yellow because those aren't USC's colors - HUGE eye roll every time this is said!).
So, in order to have my pink, I'm getting pink shoes. I figure that every dress I have looked at is long enough for you not to see them, and even if people do, who cares?? I just thought about how fun it would be to not be in norm.
I say stand out, be different, and do it the way that you will love it!
Go for the blue shoes and then take a picture with your dress pulled up and your fun shoes showing!!
Go for the COLOR, girl! My bff and now wedding coordinator rocked some zebra print kate spades at her wildly classy, elegant, formal, black tie wedding.
My friend Molly did exactly that!!! She dyed her shoes tiffany blue. It was so cute and did not look tacky at all. I say go for it!

I have become what can be known as a classic bride. My dress is ivory, I am having a classic chignon, the men are all in black tuxedos with black bowties and cummerbunds, the wedding is black tie. And we are getting married in my fiance's Armenian church (very traditional, similar to the Greek wedding ceremony).
My bridesmaid dresses are a gorgeous tealish blue from Priscilla of Boston.
I am considering buying dyeable peep toe shoes and dying them the color of their dresses for ME to wear. Will that ruin my look? I found cute little hairpins that match my Malis Henderson hair piece and could put one one each shoe as an adornment (like a brooch look on a shoe). But I am just afraid that the bright color will be too much for the rest of my oh so classic look.
I was also considering dying the shoes ivory to match the dress and then somehow coloring the bottom in the bridesmaid dress color, but I am not sure how to do that?! That would be ideal but I could not find a good enough solution.
Thoughts?
