I feel the same way. It does look kind of promish.

Is this what you’re talking about?

Gah nevermind, it’s not letting me load the right pic.

Agreed, I hate that look. Have you ever seen a guy on the red carpet wear a vest and tie to match his lady’s look?

well…. beside that time Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears wore those all denim outfits.

relieved to see this as i was also having bad prom flashbacks when we went to othe tux store but the salesman thought i was being weird; i actually love the look of a jacket without a vest to be honest, but if you have to/want to do a vest i’d definately do the grey you were planning on

Don’t let them pressure you, especiallhy if you know what you want! I’ve never been to MW, but was just reading other people’s posts the other day about Men’s Wearhouse pressuring them into ivory vs. white shirts. Telling brides their dress will look “dingy” if the men go for white shirts and it seems, downright arguing with them over it! It’s YOUR wedding, not the sales associates at MW, so if you know what you want, hold your ground and don’t let them talk you into something you don’t love!!!!

@pengoala:  Do what you want, not what they want!  I had originally wanted to do same colored vest and tie (my colors are pewter and yellow) so the guys were going to wear pewter vest & tie to mtach BM’s dresses and RB was going to do yellow vest & tie to match FG.  However, the ties that were supposed to “match” the pewter vests were aweful.  We ended up doing a yellow tie instead and I am excited to see it in SEVEN DAYS!!  🙂  Go with your gut!  You can also take the tie into MW to put on with the vest/coat to see how it will look, but I am gonna bet it will look great!

I really dislike the people who work at Men’s Wearhouse, they try to pressure you into doing the traditional look no matter what you want. They told me that I had to match ties with the girls bridesmaids dresses, which were pink. I’m not making them spend all that money for pink ties that they won’t like and will only wear once. Plus, my wedding wasn’t matchy at all. She wouldn’t let it go, so I walked out and we went to Dillards.

I hated Men’s Wearhouse. They fought me about EVERYTHING, including the ivory/white issue. I was pissed. I actually filed a complaint with corporate. But anyway, what we did was choose black vests for all the groomsmen, which automatically come with a tie of the same color. We went to Nordstrom and picked out a coordinating but not matching tie for each guy as part of their gift. I think it’s gonna look really nice.
