Estes Park is about an hour and a half outside of Denver - go there and see the Rocky Mountain National Park! We did our honeymoon in Estes Park (rented a house, it was sooo relaxing and fabulous!)
I'm originally from CO and actually lived 30/45 minutes from Estes Park! It truly is beautiful! Also the ski resorts like Breckenridge, Aspen, etc are a lot of fun in the summer and spring with hiking, horseback riding, etc. Where exactly "near" Denver will you be staying?
Thanks! We will be going to Ft. Collins. So it is even closer to Estes! we will be there around may 15th.
Ft. Collins is fun, but downtown Denver is fantastic. There are a TON of great restaurants down there (Rioja, Capitol Grill), and the nightlife is pretty awesome. If you like vodka, hit up Red Square - it's a Russian restaurant/vodka bar.
While you're in Fort Collins, make sure to make a reservation at the New Belgium brewing company so you can take their free tour. They've got amazing beer!
We will definately have to go to downtown Denver! I'd like to try some new restaurants too, those sound good! :)
Yay, Fort Collins! That's where I'm from! Honestly I have to say that downtown Fort Collins, Old Town, has some pretty good cuisine and night life as well. Bisetti's is still a favorite spot for my parents and that's where they ate the night before I was born. You should look into maybe doing a white water rafting trip on the Poudre River too.
White water rafting would be amazing! We have always wanted to go. My cousin and his wife live nearby and we were thinking of getting them to join us so we can have our own little group!

With much back and forth, stressing about money and not being able to find FI's birth certificate we made a FINAL decision on the honeymoon. My Aunt has a condo near Denver that she offered for us to use because she is never there... so we are going that route! It will be MUCH less expensive than a cruise or going out of the country and we will be able to save up for our European vacation that we really wanted to do for our honeymoon but couldn't afford. So... we are super excited to be surrounded by natural beauty and have some relaxing alone time but we want to have a lot of fun too... any suggestions of must sees or must dos? We love nature, adventure etc.
p.s.- I was also looking for some package deals or city passes (they have a GoOrlando card that we took advantage of one year and saved a ton of $$) anyone know of any companies that offer this in Colorodo?
