I had a really hard time with this.... it just kind of came with time. I went through a few different ideas before finally deciding on black, ivory, and sage green. Well, there isn't really any green now, so it's just black and ivory I guess.
I just wanted something bright and warm. The colors came to me pretty easily.
my fiance wanted a mi-evil themed wedding (i didn't really like the theme because a lot of quebecer do that theme.) and have always loved royal colours.... so we have decided to go with deep red, plum, and gold to accentuate both of what we wanted
i'm a UNC girl through and through, and blue has always been my favorite color, so carolina blue and white and black just kind of seemed the obvious choice for me.
I went through a lot of different ideas on colors. I think I went through all the colors in the rainbow and then some...drove my fiance crazy going back and forth...
in the end I ended up using my favorite color, a deep navy blue. From there I paired it with a pale gold, and added ivory. I'm going to add a pop of color with bright pink flowers.
I used interior designs that I liked as inspiration. Seeing all of the colors in room like that helped me visualize better than just making up palettes.
Miss PumpkinPenguin: I hate UNC no offense.. I'm a Duke girl all the way hah :) But you can't go wrong with any shade of blue lol...I found a lovely dark eggplant grey with reds and pinks on green wedding shoes that I feel in love with definitely the warm romantic colors I wanted to go with
Our colors are dark purple, lavender, and ivory. The reason we chose them is because purple is my favorite color! I wanted something springy but don't like too much pastel or pink.
Once we had it settled on a fall wedding.....the inspiration from the fall leaves became our colors. Apple red, tangerine orange, and gold accents.
I went through a couple of versions.
I really liked orange and navy but it was too extreme. So I tried coral and navy but coral is a hard color to match consistantly
Then I tried yellow and navy but it seemed to nautical.
Then I liked yellow and grey but I don't like yellow flowers so that was out.
Then I loved lavendar and grey but it totally clashed with our venue.
So I ended up picking ivory and champagne for our flowers but that seemed a little too boring for invites so I picked navy and pink for our invites and that's how I ended up with 4 wedding colors. But I'm a graphic designer so I stress about things not matching.
