I am getting married in Cancun on December 14, 2013, the ceremony is taking place at 4 pm and is a catholic wedding and then the reception. I have about 120 guests invited and about 70 have confirmed attendance. At the beginning I was going for the whole Tiffany’s wedding because I always wanted a Tiffany ring and my Fiance got me the ring of my dreams! However I think that it crashes a little bit with the destination wedding and I want something more elegant and classic, but definitely not the sea/beach theme. What colors would you recommend?

I think picking colors is really personal. But I got married in DR and my colours were gray, yellow and cobalt blue. I attached a pic of my bridal party so you get an idea of our scheme. I loved the way the colors looked with the turquoise water.

I love Tiffany blue!!!!! And think you should still go for it. I sincerely believe it’s your fave blue & you getting married in Cancun is no mistake…. It’s the color of the water!
That blue looks very good with an oatmeal brown/linen color like the sand but it will also go well with:
– pink (hot pink or pale)
– chocolate brown
– orange (think sherbet)
– whites and creams
– red (LOVE IT)
– eggplant (Google this to see examples)
– black and white
– dark turquoise or teal
– bright violet
– navy blue
Or any of the combined combinations above. If you want something classy verses beachy/sea then kindly ask the hotel for no seashells or nautical anything. I might also choose a colored invite or use colored ink to convey more of the actual mood of the wedding verses “beach”. You could also request the hotel for a more local cuisine option verses something more traditional. And don’t forget, you are in the area of the Mayans. Research a little and get a feel for that culture and maybe incorporate a few things that will make the wedding unique and memorable. Best of luck!

if you’re getting married by the water i’d pick any shade of orange (coral, sherbet, etc). orange is the complimentary colour of blue (water). it will look amazing in pics.

Our colours were definitely NOT typical beach colours!! We went with champange, deep red and ivory. We also got married in Cancun!
