Am I crazy to think that I could make all of this go together for our July 2011 wedding:
Main color – Hot pink. Accent collors – orange and yellow. I’ve found LOTS of inspiration boards that do this. Here is just one example:
Yet I want to stick with my original plan of the bridesmaids in cocktail length BLACK dresses (same length, same fabric, different necklines). Is that crazy? As always, I respect honesty : ) They of course would have bright flowers to match the color scheme and maybe bright shoes, as seen in this picture:
And, as a final reference, here is our venue:
Like I said, this is a July 2011 wedding, so I have time to change all of these plans if everyone thinks it will not work. Thanks for your input, bees!

I really love your color palate, and I think that it would be fantastic to use the bright colors for your wedding. The only thing that throws me off is the black bridesmaids dresses. I think it makes too much of a contrast, but that’s just my opinion. What if you did different shades of pink for the dresses and then still had all of your bright oranges, pinks and yellows?
Great ideas :] And I love the different colored bright shoes!! :]

I love the color palette! I think the black dresses with multicolored shoes look really fun. You could always pick just one bright color for the BM shoes and have a sash or jewelry accent to tie in that color.

I like the sash idea like @vonnegurl mentioned. You could do bright colored sashes which would tie in more color to the black dresses. Plus the fun shoes!

@Miss Chocolate – I admit, it would be easier if I just gave up on the black BM dress idea. However, I have been a a BM multiple times and have NEVER had a dress that I would wear again (periwinkle, orange, sage green). So, one of the first things I vowed to myself after becoming engaged was that I would dress my BM is cute little black dresses : ) I can’t seem to let that idea go, even though I want the rest of my color palette to be bright!

I really like the idea of black dresses to offset all the bright colors. Honestly, I think having brightly colored dresses on top of the brightly colored flowers, shoes, and decorations is a bit of an eyesore.

I think you can totally do this. My BM dress wasn’t black, but it was a dark navy, and my flowers were hot pink and orange. They totally popped because they were so bright! Here’s a picture of our flowers and you can see that my BM’s dress was a dark navy.

Very true! Now that I think about it, I think I would get a lot of use out of a black dress than a bright colored dress :]

I’m trying to do something similar, but with blue, yellow and orange. My girls will be wearing blue and the flowers will be orange and yellow. I think that would still work with pink dresses, but it might be a bit much. I actually like the black idea…do the colored shoes and have the guys wear all of the colors in some way or other.

i like the multi colored dresses depicted in the top right corner of the inspiration board.

I love the idea of the black dresses with different colored shoes and bright flowers – I think that would look really awesome

where is your venue?! it is absolutely gorgeous with all those beautiful chandeliers!

I think its brilliant. It will be different in such a fun and refreshing way, IMO. How fun would it be for each BM to wear a little black dress with a different colored sash and matching shoe color? You could also really do something fun with the bouquets and make them pop. Go for it!

I think it’ll all coordinate beautifully! The black dresses wouldn’t look bad at all; most men wear black suits year-round. I love your idea of having the girls wear brightly-colored shoes…it’s perfect! And so very cheery…I can tell your day will be so fun!

I think these are great colors to match together. I found a picture of these colors and I think they look great together. Black would also be a great color for the bridesmaids.
I am thinking about going with Bunches Direct (http://www.bunchesdirect.com). Has anyone heard of them?? They look pretty reasonable but I haven’t seen as many reviews on them.
