Hi everyone. This is my first post – I’m looking for some advice on colour schemes and wondered if you anyone could help?
Originally I had planned to have a ‘spring flower’ theme rather than a specific colour scheme, and have my bridesmaids in different spring shades. However, we have now booked a venue which includes some really pretty chiavari chairs with red seats. Now, not only does red not fit with my original plan, it’s a colour I rarely wear because I’m quite pale and it makes me looked washed out. However, it seems a shame (and a waste of money) to pay for covers to cover up perfectly nice chairs. So I’m trying to develop a colour scheme that includes a splash of red to tie in with the chairs, but which still has a nice, light spring feel. So I’m thinking flowers in pinks, whites/cream and a little red, something like this:
But…while I really like this colour scheme for the flowers, I’m not sure what to do about bridesmaids dresses now. I originally thought that pale pink would be lovely but one of my bridesmaids is very anti-pink and I want them all to be happy and comfortable in what they’re wearing. I wondered about a very pale blue (similar to the colour of the tables in the first link) but I’ve never really seen a combo like this in practice and wondered what people’s thoughts are on this? Or do you have any other suggestions on how to have a spring colour theme which will work with my red chairs???
My fiance doesn’t really have much of an eye for colour and says he’ll be happy with whatever colour scheme I decide on which is very nice, but a bit of a responsibility! I really want to get this right! Any ideas would be much appreciated! 🙂

Hi @spring_bee: First and foremost… as this is your first post… a BIG Welcome to “the Hive”
There are lots of great websites (besides the feedback you’ll get here) that can show you tons of examples for colour combos all at once… and you can fine-tune your options
Here are some links to get you started…
These first two are for Websites that specialize in colour combos… so you can click around and try out a bunch of different stuff (see what goes well together)
1- The Perfect Palette = http://www.theperfectpalette.com
2- Design Seeds = http://design-seeds.com
The next two… are using GOOGLE, you can see a wide variety of Wedding Themed colours all at once (realize it can be overwhelming)… OR you can fine tune it to the specific parameters you like (such as what I’ve done here for # 4).
3- Even just old regular GOOGLE… try GOOGLE IMAGES… with your colour choices. For example here is one I did for – Wedding Red & Pink =
4- And here is another, this time more general… for – Wedding Colour Schemes =
Want to try out other colour combos… just type what you want into the GOOGLE box at the top…
Hope this helps,
PS… There is also a Bee on here, who likes doing Colour Inspiration Boards for people, I’ll see if I can’t find her topic to link to as well.

I like the color combination of the first link you posted. You honestly wouldn’t need a ton of red to tie it in with the chairs – sometimes I think things look better when they aren’t so matchy.
I don’t know what to say about the BM not wanting to wear pink. If its your wedding color then its your wedding color. Maybe she would prefer a different shade of pink? I want my BM to be comfortable for sure – so I gave her (I only have one BM) a lot of freedom with the dress style. But I would not change my colors to cater to a BM’s taste. This is a dress they will more than likely wear one time in their life for a couple of hours. I would pick out something you like and that is flattering to their figure and leave it at that.
I think the colors are really pretty though

Oh wow, thank you so much for this! I’ve searched google images before but the other links you’ve provided are completely new to me. I literally just browsed for five minutes and found some inspiration already! They are going to keep me occupied for hours! And the inspiration boards by Curlymama are beautiful – I will see if she can help me out once I’ve narrowed my ideas down a bit further.
Thank you again for your help – I really, really appreciate it!

Thank you adoc86 for those pictures – they are just the sort of thing I had in mind. I think the red, white and pink is a really classic, romantic look.
I agree, part of me felt like that about the bridesmaid/pink issue – it’s hard enough deciding on a colour scheme as it is! She hasn’t actually told me herself; I just got to hear of it through my MOH. Howevet, it’s not as if I’ve always dreamed of having my bridesmaids in pink and I’m still playing around with ideas at the moment. I wouldn’t want to have to wear a bridesmaid dress in a colour I hated so I want to take her views into consideration if I can.
