- Wedding: March 2015
I really, Really, REALLY need some help here!
So, we will be having our wedding on March 8th 2015 and it will be at a Yacht Club here in Perth, Australia. The weather will still be warm (30 degrees) so we decided to go for a cocktail reception using both an indoor area that gives you access to the balcony/terrace overlooking the water and the city on the other side of the river.
I will be wearing a lace gown (still need to pick one though but I’m loving Galia Lahav’s new Dolce Vita collection :)) and we will have fairy lights and tea lights EVERYWHERE!!!! I want it to feel romantic but elegant and classy at the same time.
Now, my problem is that I want the bridal bouquet to be made out of either red roses or red carnations and the bridesmaids to have the exact same thing but in white. I don’t like pastles (I think they look amazing but I also do think that everything blends in a little too much and that the bride and bridesmaids don’t standfout in pictures) and refuse to go for black as it’s unlucky in Italy (I’m Italian and moved to Australia 3 years ago, therefore I’m pretty traditional and superstitious :)).
Initially I was thinking about white and red but then thought it might be a little too “loud” so I thought about possibly toning it down by doing white, red and navy/dark blue. Although this colour scheme will tie in well with the yacht club (sailing colours, red and blue carpets, a lot of wood and chesterfield couches…) I feel it almost looks patriotic (Australian flag is white, red and blue!). So I thought that we could maybe add gold to the whole things (fairlights, candlelights, some other decorations…) but I’m wondering if that means I should also wear gold jewellery (I prefer gold jewellery to silver, it suits me best, but I’m not too sure about gold jewellery with a wedding dress…)?
Also, I would like the BMs to wear full lenght one-shoulder gowns. They are all different heights and different skin colours and hair colours (one is short and of Indian origin, the other one is medium height and has olive skin and is a brunette and then my sister is tall, skinny with fair to olive colour skin and blonde) therefore I need a colour that would suit them all. In addition, I don’t want them to wear a dark coloured gown. Do you girls think red is too much?
Please help me, give me some ideas or inspiration as I’m stuck and I’ve got to the point that I can’t think outside the box anymore!!!
Thanks Bees, I know you’ll all have some great ideas 🙂
