So I am getting married next summer so I still have a lot of time to plan but picking a colour for our wedding is becoming a nightmare. Initially I planned on purple because currently it’s my favorite colour but as my fiancé pointed out I’ve changed my favorite colour almost 8 times in the last few years. haha. But the plan was dark purple with lilac, pink flowers. Then I thought about having a bright blue with yellow, then coral & grey & now back to purple but thinking of accenting it with silver. Is that summery?
My venue is on the lake & our city is considered the City of Lakes so I kinda wanted to play with that as a theme but I think it might be too hard to make nice rather than tacky. So I am curious if you guys can give me some colour suggestions? 🙂

Have you asked your FI which of those options is his favorite? I would take that into account. Also, you might feel better if you don’t have a SUPER strict color scheme! I’m having a vintage-themed wedding, so my “colors” are blushes, beiges, lavender, mint green, gold, etc. I’m getting married outdoors so I think the fall leaves and all of the foliage and landscaping will pull the colors together. When I think of weddings I’ve been to, the super monochromatic or two-chromatic weddings did not seem as elegant most of the time as the weddings with 3 or more colors.
Also, I would say pick a theme (if you’d like to have a theme!) and that could help you choose a color scheme once and for all. For example, for a nautical wedding a lot of brides choose navy blue and white, or for a retro 50’s wedding choose several pastels.
Third, if you have booked a venue, you can let that inspire you! Since we are getting married outside, as I mentioned, I thought a neutral color scheme (greens and browns) could look too washed out, so that’s why I went with the lighter, more colorful hues.
Anyways, sorry to ramble, I might sound crazy, but I hope that helps 🙂

I am also from the Darkside so I understand the City Of Lakes reference 🙂 I think any of those color options would work, I am doing purple, blue and green (jewel tones) , if your getting married at Banook canoe club they have red banners on the wall so the coral might go better if they dont let you take those down , if your venue is the mic mac its all white so you can pick any color your want!

go to googleimages.com and do a search for weddings by color. also search “wedding inspiration color boards.” you will see a lot. I like your purple idea, but would mix with lavender and gray for your hubby. Black is always great. It’s all summery enough.

Why not keep the purple and do purple with yellow?
My cousin did this for her wedding and the colors looked fantastic and very summery, I really loved it.

Thanks gals!!! My FI really doesn’t care what colour I go with, he’s okay with whatever I pick. Although I am sure if I said he had to wear pink he’d say something. haha.
Miss Feather, we’re getting married at MicMac Canoe Club. What venue did you pick?
I love the inspiration boards, thanks for posting. I will google them. What I am thinking now is dark purple bridesmaid dresses, using dark purple organza for backdrop, with silver organza sashes for the chairs with a silver runner & then have purple & lavender in the centerpieces. Too much?
The purple & yellow is stunning! Thanks for posting that.

I’m personally having bright blue and lemon yellow…beautiful colors and so many different shades. But I have been seeing A LOT of deep people with a teal as a new trending wedding colors. I think that would be so cute 🙂

Awesome! Thanks for the link! 🙂
Awesome. We looked at that venue as well, we were really close to booking but changed our minds at the last minute. It’s a gorgeous space.
