@raisedonrobbery:  dawn dishwashing soap will take some of the color out. wash it with that in the hottest water possible.

There is a number on the box you can call for additional help — apparently they really do help.

Letting vinegar soak in your hair for 20 minute sshould also help lighten up the dye.

I would either go to a professional, or go to sallys and get a demi permanent color to match the rest of your hair. Since you say it’s black I would try to match your ends to the swatches.  I would use a 10 volume developer. This way as the black on your hair fades so will your roots. But I would personally go to a professtional and have them strip the color out of your hair and let your hair heal for a bit. Sorry the hair stylist in me just says OUCH when someone says box color. I hope this helps.

@raisedonrobbery:  YES Thank God it’s not permanent!!! I wouldn’t use dish washing soap, but anything from walmart even if it says color treated will help strip the color out of your hair. I would look for one that isn’t sulfate free. The Sulfate is what strips color out but it also strips the nutrients out of the hair as well, so i would def do a deep conditioning treatment once a week!! If you don’t per say have one sleep in regular conditioner. 🙂 I hope this helps 🙂

I literally just did this. Same colors and everything. Roots were reddish brown and remainder of hair was jet black. I ended up going back to my stylist. Embarrassing!  Had a bleach and shampoo treatment and some highlights to help blend. And a deep conditioning treatment. Lol!

Just wanted to say I’m sorry, I’m going through color correction right now for hot roots!

I did this in a few years back. Put a lot of shampoo or dish soap in your hair and let it sit for as long as your comfortable with. It will help lift the color. For me the hot root mess problem only lasted a few days. It kinda colored my scalp a little and went away in a few days with some heavy shampoo sessions.

Personally I just used whatever shampoo I had but heard from others that dish soap works.

I heard that using blue shampoo will help such as head and shoulders
