We included an insert that combined both the directions and accommodations information. If you have enough space, I would recommend including it - especially as a courtesy to the older guests who may not be able to access your website.
We did,but on seperate cards. The directions cards were already full,so there was no other choice. On the Accommodations card we simply listed the names and addresses of the suggested hotels, and once mailed, the hotels did a direct mailing with information to each guest.
Thanks! Did you include the negotiated rate? My mom thinks this is extremely crass to do so, so I would like to avoid this if we include it.
Thanks smyley! What specifically did the hotels mail? Did you provide them with the mailing addresses? I've never heard of this and am interested in how it works. Also, what hotels did this?
I added an accommodations section with the directions at the request of parents who were concerned older guests might not be internet savvy. We listed the two hotels in our block along with address and phone numbers
My daughter wrote a short cover letter, and the hotel manager said if she provided them with a guest list, they'd be happy to send all pertinent hotel information to each guest (at their expense!) It was great,as the hotel information was delivered the day after the invitations arrived.
These are hotels at the beach, owned by the same person. One is beachfront and the other just a block away.
I'm sure if you asked, your hotels would do the same!
Our hotel (holiday inn) provided personalized inserts to include with our invitations. i was hesitant to use them at first because our invitations are formal and our other inserts matched the invitations, but I decided it wasn't worth the extra money to have our stationer make accomadations cards when the ones we had were perfectly fine.
I definitely think it's a courtesy to include that information. However, most people have no problem going online and figuring out that information for themselves, so if you don't think it'll fit with your suite or the feel of your wedding, I wouldn't feel pressured to do it.

Hi Ladies,
I'm working out the Directions/ Accomodations cards for my invitation suite right now. While the accomodations are listed on our website, should we also provide it in the invitations? We have a very large number coming from out of town. If I include the accomdations information, it would be in combination with the Directions. Is this even needed? Our invitations are VERY formal and I'm not sure if including this information is really necessary.
