Jeesh. I wish I got all that for $80/mo! It may depend on area but I pay I think $110 for cable/internet (no fancy channels either!). I do pay for extra cable boxes, though, since we rent them from them. We have 3 TVs total and I think they charge something like $8/box. Their customer service has never been an issue for me. They’ve always been very nice. And anytime my deal is up I just wait a month or so and call them up asking for any new rates they can give me and there’s almost always something. I’m in the Chicago area, so like I said, it may be region dependent.

TERRIBLE.  I hate Comcast, and their customer service is abysmal.  We pay $120 for 1 HD box, 1 cable box, and internet.  The internet is slow.  No premium channels, just the regulars and HD versions of most of them as well.

You may be able to get a similar rate for a promo period but once the promo is up, the jack it up….

I pay $190/month for cable with HD channels, Showtime, HBO and Starz, internet and phone service with comcast.  If I want to cancel the phone it goes up to $225.

@LiliKitty:  Just saw this.  We try this periodically, and they’re always really rude and say they don’t allow you to jump from promo to promo.  It may be regional (we’re in DC) – but they just keep raising my price, and they don’t care if we threaten to leave…

Also, one of my friends threatened to leave, so Comcast disconnected their cable and internet on the spot, then made them pay to re-connect it.

I used to have Verizon Fios and loved it.  Then I moved and Fios isn’t available here so we went with Comcast.  I’m not a fan of the channel guide setup and the order of their channels is weird.  The internet is a little slower but I guess that’s to be expected.  The cost is about the same, which is at least $180/month for the bundle with premium channels and two boxes (one with DVR).  Blech.

@MrsDrRose612:  Ugh it’s awful.  It was $130 when we signed up for it and it just keeps going up and up and up.  We have no choice but them for a provider because there’s no other cable provider in our area and we’re not allowed to have satelite even if we wanted to because we live in a condo and it’s against the HOA’s regulations.  Wah.

Comcast is horrible. They are so freaking annnoying. My internet is fast and works way better then verizon. They also try to jack up the prices every single year. Everytime they do I call and tell them if they can’t do it for what I am paying I’m switiching companies. Then they waffle, take a few days, and give in. I been in cycle with them for three years, and I’m still paying same price. I don’t even watch much tv so if it wasn’t bundled I would left them years ago.

As for extra channels I find them useless and rather order movies as I want. I do like Weeds, and typically I wait until the season is almost over and call and order it for month or what speical they have then just watch a marathon of the show.

@MrsDrRose612:  Hah, I bet Comcast will be worse than anything you’ve got now.  My building is only wired for them, so my only other option would be Dish, and I don’t want a giant satelite dish on my balcony (but I understand why so many of my neighbors do!).  I think all cable companies suck though, so as long as you don’t go in with high expectations, you should be ok-ish…

We have Comcast just for TV, and even though we don’t get the fancy channels, it’s only $30 a month for channels 1-100 roughly. But it’s only that cheap because DH answered the phone when they telemarketed us, haha. When we called THEM to ask about cable, they quoted us $80/month just for what we have now. So we said eff it, we’ll figure something else out. Then the nexy day they called our house phone and offered $30/month without a contract. Of course we said YES PLEASE!
