Hi ladies. I’m new here and need some help. I put a deposit down on a mermaid dress the other day. I love the dress but then when I got home I started second guessing my decision. The reason being that I’m nervous that once it is altered I’m not going to be able to move or sit down in it. My question is would you pick a dress that you love even if you were uncomfortable in it or would you look for a new dress? Thanks!

@RL712: I would choose comfort every time but that’s just me. Did you try to sit down in your dress yet? Maybe a quick trip back to retry on the dress and sit down will help. Unless there’s a ton of beading right on the seat area you should be fine to sit down. But I don’t remember having much time to sit down at my first wedding anyway so it may not even matter.

I understand where you’re coming from. I thought I wanted a large ballgown with a dropped waist with a heavily beaded torso. I tried on tons of dresses like that and found that the beading rubbed the insides of my arms! It was awful, even after 1 hour appointments my arms were red and scratched. I thought I would just “make do” and pick a beaded top until I tried on my dress. I went with a Maggie Sottero “Talese”, has details but doesn’t rub my skin at all!
My advice to you is go back and try it on again. Sit down, dance, bend over, walk around the shop, do all the things you think you’ll be doing on your wedding day. If you find you can do all those things then stick with it. Hope that helps you a little 🙂
