    Hi Bees!

So I am at the gym today sweating like crazy and it got me thinking - I have been trying for YEARS to fit back into my size 4 Abercrombie jeans literally from 10th grade. I am 24 now and a size 10. Overall I would say I am comfortable with my body, I have curves, but I definitely wouldn't mind being 10 lbs slimmer. But I think I just need to realize I am not a teenager anymore, no more fast metabolism. I should embrace my body the way it has developed and just make sure I stay healthy. I am definitely never going to be "skinny", I am Italian and love food WAY too much LOL!

So I guess my whole point is, does anyone else feel this way?? Is it definitely time to give up my goal of being a size 4 ever again??

In my early twenties my body changed A LOT!!!!! I went from having a very slim boyish figure to having hips and boobies. It took me quite awhile to come to terms with it but I eventually realized that I was still just a little girl when I was that small.

I'm sure you look gorgeous just the way you are! I've been coming to terms with my new body this year. I hit a 2nd puberty and I don't know if I can blame it on BC pills or just on my age. I'm 23, and I went from a size 5/6 to 7/8, which isn't that big of a difference except that I gained about 20lbs in my butt and boobs. My hips are super wide now to accomodate my "assets" and I've had to buy bigger bras three times this year. I can't fit into my jeans or work pants that I just bought earlier this year, so I am super frustrated. Now I just buy the $10 jeans at Forever 21 because I don't feel like investing money in something I'll probably have to buy again in a month or two.

I was stressing myself out until I realized that I can use this as an excuse to toss out my teenage clothes and buy myself a grown-up wardrobe that flatters my new body. Use it as a renewing experience :-)

After college, I went up slowly from a size 4 to a size 6 then 8 then 10. I had come to terms with it, like you, because I like food too much and being a grad student, had no time for the gym. Not sure what broke but eventually I couldn't take it anymore. I joined WW and lost 18 lbs. Now I'm a size 0/2 which is smaller than I was in high school. Moral of the story is - if you are happy with the way you are, that's great!!! But if not, don't feel resigned to the fact that your womanly body has more curves. If you change your eating habits, you can get back down to your size 4 high school self if you really want to. I LOVE food and don't feel deprived at all. It's all about portion control. I am SO much happier now than I was at size 10. It might be vain, but I don't care. I love having people telling me how good I look now. Not only that, I feel so much healthier. It's possible, I promise you.

I do!!!  I was super small up until about 21.  I hit 21 and it was like BAM - woman!  I grew in height, my hips got bigger and it was so hard to be skinny anymore!  I used to be a 0 and now I'm about an 6/8.  I do need to lose a few pounds for health reasons.  I go to the gym regularly, the weight just isn't falling off like it used to.  I don't really want to be back at a 0 but a 4 would be nice. :)

@Krises:  I understand what you mean about feeling better at a smaller size.  I just feel sort of sluggish sometimes.

@misssydneyj:  I had to buy new clothes too!! My closet has a set of 4 pants, 6 pants and 8 pants lol.  Today I am in the 6 pants which is awesome.  Tomorrow, I might be in something else!

@MrsCoachBtoBee: Lol yeah I can fit about 3 different sizes, depending on the day, style, designer, or the fabric. It's a mess! lol

@Krises: Congrats! My changes were weird because my weight went up, but physically the only things that looked bigger were my butt and boobs lol. I'm not complaining because I looked like a 16 year old and now I can probably pass for 18 lol.

@misssydneyj: I hear ya! I gained lots of weight in my already too big for my body boobs, which just resulted in making me look even bigger than I was! That was a recipe for disaster. The best part of losing some weight was wearing a smaller bra size for the first time in years. Bras are so cute in smaller sizes!

@Krises: I understand! I can't fit any of my cute lingerie anymore, so I have to go shopping for that too. My weight has been fluctuating + or - 5 lbs every time I see a doctor. The nurse said I'm at a healthy weight so I shouldn't be too concerned. The one thing that does piss me off though is that stupid BMI thing says that I'm slightly overweight, but then nurses and docs say that I'm fine lol.

@misssydneyj: Yeah my BMI said the same thing. What matters I think is how you feel. I didn't feel fine, I definitely felt overweight. Because I'm super short, a little bit extra weight showed a lot. And I'd obviously trust your dr. over the bmi chart, any day.

I was a size 5 in grade 10, size 8 in grade 12 (I am tall), doesn't matter how much weight I lose I will never fit back into size 5 or 8 for that matter, my hips are just that much wider. I am 23 now and wear a size 10, I would like to lose probably 10 pounds but it doesn't bother me that much. It is just a fact of growing up, you will never fit into your highschool clothes again, and if you can that your just a freak of nature haha. lol

I think our society puts SO much pressure on us woman to be skinny....and not just skinny, but anorexically skinny. Personally, I've always celebrated 'a little more cushion for the pushin' =D

It was in 10th grade, high school that I was having a normal physical and the doctor claimed I was 20% obsese for my height. I was 4"11ft and 106lbs. How was I obsese? Not to mention, I was a gymnast for years so I have an incredible amount of muscle mass...and muscle weighs more than fat.

Don't get hung up over weight ladies. Just stay healthy. My thighs are a bit bigger and my tummy gets a roll when I sit down but I don't care. It's happy weight...it's the 12 lbs I've gained in a year because of my man's fine cooking! And I'm bound to gain more cuz' I want me some babies~! :)

I feel you too. I actually gained a bunch of weight and now I'm back down to my high school size eight jeans, but my shape has definitely changed. Back in hs, I was a D cup, and now I'm a 38G. I was hoping that I would lose some of my chest when I lost weight, but that never really works for me :(. Juniors clothes are definitely not an option anymore.

I was really tiny in high school and gained 30 (cue the gasp!) pounds in college. I'm now a size 9/10 but wore a 5/6 in college. :( I'm noticeably larger! Plus my boobs got bigger. I gave up on the gym because this weight just won't come off!

@jennyDtobe: I know EXACTLY how you feel.  I think it is something that happens once you hit your 20s lol  In highschool I was so slim and loved my figure.. I loved that fact that I can get into small sizes and feel comfortable in anything.  Then.... IT HAPPENED!  I turned 20 and my clothes don't fit anymore.. I have come to the conclusion that it is a combination of studying more, exercising less and birth control pills.  I have been cutting down my portion sizes and exercising more and have seen a huge difference.. however the 'womanliness' is soo much more obvious.  I feel a lot more curvy around my hips and bust.. My old clothes still don't fit but I guess I look a little more mature now.  At first I was in denial about it but I am coming to terms with the fact that I am growing up and I won't be a little compact thing forever lol.  My bra cup size has gone from a C to a E and it is freaking me outttt!!

I'm sure you look amazing, and if you are comfortable with what you look like, size 10 is perfectly healthy and normal.

I will say one thing though. I thought I would never again weigh what I did in high school. Throughout college, law school, I always was about a size 8-10.

Then I gave up alcohol, completely, and I am now back to high school size, if not smaller. Alcohol does horrible things to your metabolism and has tons of calories. I would encourage anyone who is willing to try it to give up alcohol for just 2 months and see what happens. 10 lbs melted off my frame like magic.

Oh you are NOT alone! I am 25, and when I was 24 I gained 20 pounds in one year. I mainly blame it on the BC I was placed on (never was on it before) but it makes me feel soooo much better that even with the weight gain, I don't want to go back. (I was not placed on it for contraceptive purposes, but for regulation/ things were really out of whack so to speak). Anyway, I freaked out and I have lost about 7 pounds but I am still up CONSIDERABLY. So I completely understand. And I gained in my chest most; I was a 30F (HUGE I KNOW) and now i am a 30HH! UGH! It's impossible to find proper fitting bras here (the one store that stocks them is in the Florida Keys and I only go there once a year) and I have to order them online. So I relate/understand completely! I haven't given up on the idea of going back to the size I was before but... I know it is going to be a ton of work. I just got engaged so now I have more of a motive! *crossing my fingers*

I have mixed and varying feelings about my womanly figure. Sometimes, I am very comfortable - even happy - about my curves, and other times not so much.

@jennyDtobe:  I have had that day before.  I'm 28 and in a size 10.  In my college days, I was in as small as a 0, but felt best in a 3.  I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and one of the complications was that I developed insulin resistance before my diagnoses.  I gained 50 lbs and wore a 14.  One day I was in tears because I figured I would NEVER be in a 3 ever again.  I may not be, but I am okay with that.  My goal is for my health now, with a secondary goal being to try to slide back toward a 6 or 8.  I've dropped from a 14 to a 10 over the last year, so I think it will happen.  Not by the time my wedding comes on May 26, but maybe over the next few years.

I think your health is most important and if you are happy and comfortable in your own skin, nothing is more beautiful.

I'm sort of the opposite.. I am 22 and I look very young because I am a size 0-2 at 5'6" tall. I mean for crying out loud, FI and I went to a rated R movie the other day and the ticket guy looked right at me and asked "Are you even old enough to see this movie?" I am naturally very thin, have been my whole life, and I am so sick and tired of people thinking I am still in high school!

Don't feel bad if you don't fit into the jeans that you wore when you were 15! I would love to be a size 10! I'm sure you look great!! I am currently a size 16-18, but I have always been bigger.

I can understand it would be frustrating if you were a size 4 and now are not. But as you become an adult your body does change. I have many friends who have the same problem as you. And they are realizing that they just need to be happy with how they are. As long as you are healthy that is what matters!

Sometimes no matter how hard you work out, your body will only get so small. I have gained and lost a lot of weight over my life time so far, and there are just some parts of your body that change and stay that way. My boobs are big, and they have gotten much bigger than when I was in high school. No matter what I do, they stay the same size. And I have to buy shirts big enough for them. Same with my butt, and it makes pants almost impossible to find!

I do think your body and your metabolism change as you get older. I actually am smaller and weigh less than I did in high school, but I think I am a bit differently proportioned. I also feel like I have to keep a closer eye on my weight now because I tend to gain more easily...no more teenage metabolism :p

I'm already dreading the day when I start to get a "womanly" body.  I am currently 21 and senior in college.  I have managed to maintain my high school weight and pretty much non curvy athletic frame over the past 4 years.  I will be getting married 1 year after I graduate from college and I'm scared to death that over the next year I will start to gain weight.  I have a few friends my age that have gotten married recently and they gained a good amount of weight before and after they got hitched.
