I’m trying to get a list list together to give my DJ an idea of the songs I’d like played at our reception and I’m drawing a blank. I like traditional, fun songs… but when I sit down to come up with ideas I can barely think of anything!!
For those already married – did your DJ play anything that everyone really got into? I’d like to pick songs people will really like.
I also still need a bridal party entrance and a bride and groom entrance song!! This is stressing me out, not having decided and I need to know very soon!
I DON’T like too much current pop/hip hop type songs… at least not for this. Like, I really like Sexy and I Know It but I really don’t think I want it at my wedding.
I like 80’s pop if that helps.
Thanks so much for any suggestions!!

@seAprilbride: your DJ should have a good list for your to give you dieas, have you asked them?

@W292737: He just says that he “plays whatever he feels like at the moment” so no. I would think he would give me some idea, but apparently not.

Let me find my paper work at home, it had some really common ones, and then certain artists,

Older stuff hey..
How about “Can You Feel It” by the Jacksons?
“Twist and Shout”
They are all fairly easy to dance to so some of the older guests can join in as well

@seAprilbride: For our entrance song we had “Glad You Came” by The Wanted. I know it’s a pop song but it seemed fitting for the introductions at the reception.
People really seemed to like the group dances and couples seemed to prefer to dance to slower tunes.
This might sound cheesy but one of my favorite 80’s songs is “I Can Dream About You” by Dan Hartman. It might not be exactly a wedding type song but it always makes me wanna dance. I like “Lucky Star” by Madonna and “Wake Me Up” by Wham. These definitely might considered cheesy by some but they’re fun. “Something About You” by Level 42 might be a good sond for a wedding and Spandeau Ballet’s “True” is another good 80’s tune.

there are tons of wedding music lists online! Just google them, and they will pop up. I spent an evening going over them and narrowed my list down. Have fun with it!

@seAprilbride: Hmm.. I would not be down with a DJ who just played what he felt like at the moment, unless he was a nationally known DJ with an awesome reputation. But hey, if you are cool with it, then you might want to come up with a list of songs you are comfortable with (though you are essentially doing the work for him by creating a playlist).
Anyway, google “commonly played wedding reception songs,” you will get a good list and ideas.
