@memorialbride13:  I personally think blue can be used anytime! It also helps that we’re getting married on Memorial weekend so blue is also a fitting choice!

I’ll play!

Wedding Date: May 18, 2013

Engagement Length: 18 months (engaged in November 2011)

Colors: grape-y purple color and gold

Theme: I don’t really have a theme, but our venue is 1920s art deco, so that’s where I’m headed.

Wedding Party(#s): 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, 1 flower girl.  One of my brother’s is going to officiate, and then my other two brothers are going to be ushers.

Ceremony (where, time): The Thaxton Building, St. Louis, 5pm (I think on the time)

Reception (where, time): Same place, right after – we are having a cocktail hour while the venue staff turns over the main floor for dinner.

Dress Style: Caprice by Maggie Sottero

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): No idea…

Honeymoon Location: New Orleans, LA

Flowers: I’m doing my own – I went with the real touch white and purple calla lilies from Hobby Lobby, which will be in my centerpieces as well

First Dance Song: Hmm.. We haven’t gotten that far. I joked we should do cheesy early 90s Bryan Adams.  It may be No One’s Gonna Love You by Band of Horses though, if I get my way

Centerpieces: Round glass vases with submersible LED lights and stones, with three calla lilies submerged in water.  I’m still fiddling with those.

Food/Menu: We have an excellent caterer who is doing a sort of New Orleans, cajun feel to the menu.  It’s going to be a sit down dinner, with two meal options, and passed appetizers before dinner.

Cake Flavour: No idea.  I haven’t even decided if I want cake

Favours: Still messing with this one. I would like to not do any, but I don’t know how well received that will be with our families. If I end up doing anything it may be a candy bar or an edible favor.

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ, he came with the venue.

Bachelorette (when/what): No clue, but I’m a little scared

Here’s mine!

Wedding Date: May 26, 2013

Engagement Length: 18 months

Colors: blue (aqua/turquoise I think) and gold

Theme: not really doing a theme

Wedding Party(#s): 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, 1 flowergirl and 1 ringbearer

Ceremony (where, time): the garden at Sabot at Stony Point (a private school) in Richmond, VA; 4:30pm

Reception (where, time):  same as ceremony, cocktail hour at 5 and reception at 6. I think we’re going to rent a tent

Dress Style: not sure yet, i like lace and chiffon. I know I want something that’s light and kind of flowy, especially since we’ll be outside and it might be warm

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Probably pro but I haven’t completely decided yet.

Honeymoon Location: Costa Rica

Flowers: I’m leaning toward getting flowers whoesale or from the farmer’s market and DIYing them. Might get a florist for the bouquets though

First Dance Song: Go Folks by Bonnie Prince Billy and the Cairo Gang

Centerpieces: simple containers (either clear or milkglass) with loosely arranged flowers; I’d like peonies, hydrangeas, or tulips if I can find them at a reasonable price. We’re serving food family style so there needs to be plenty of room on the tables for the platters of food

Food/Menu:passed hors d’ourves during the cocktail hour, a plated salad followed by crabcakes and another entree (not sure what yet) served family style with a couple of sides. Probably boiled potatoes and asparagus

Cake Flavour: undecided; it really doesn’t matter much to me. I’m kind of leaning toward doing a small two tier cake for us to cut and then just having cupcakes for everyone else. Our caterer also includes chocolate covered strawberries for dessert so we’ll have those

Favours: mix CDs and koozies

DJ/Band/Ipod: My FI’s brother’s band. I’m sure FIs band will end up playing some too. We’re also having an ipod for music during the cocktail hour, dinner, and band breaks

Bachelorette (when/what):  we’re doing a joint bachelor/bachlorette party in New Orleans for Jazzfest
