I know I have not posted a lot on this site but I am an avid reader and I really wanted to share my news with all you lovley ladies!
My Fiance and I have decided to have a destination wedding in Thailand!! I have found an incredible resort in Koh Samui and I am so excited. It also means we are moving the date up to the last week in October.! I am going to be a Mrs 4 months earlier!!
We have recieved a bit of resentment from a few family members but I think it will all work out. I am so over the moon about it. We are going to have a huge bbq when we get home to celebrate with all of those who could not make it for the ceremony.
We were only going to have a wedding of about 100 people and I know that is not a huge wedding, but I was really dreading having to try and entertain all of them when all I want to do is be with my nearest and dearest who dont actually require entertaining, and just enjoy it. Have those stolen moments with my new husband without expectations put on me. Oh I am so excited!!
So all you ladies who have had weddings in the tropics I would love to hear from you. All of you gorgeous wedding details. How did you handle the heat!? That is the only thing I am a bit nervous about…. I am thinking about getting another dress for the reception but I dont want to wear it unless necessary.

I didn’t get married in the tropics, but I thought I’d give you some support. We had a destination wedding and that had a few family members upset at the time, but they’ve gotten over it. We’ve been married a little over a year, and I don’t regret having a destination wedding one little bit. It was the best decision for us, and we’re really glad we didn’t give in to any family pressure!
Congrats on your plans! I hope you get some good advice about the heat!!!

@Loribeth: Thanks for your story. I dont think we will regret it at all. At least I hope we dont. I have never been the girl that dreams about the big white wedding. I think everything will be ok once we get over the hurdle of getting our parents to agree to be there.
And yeah I think having it away suits us quite well

My tropical wedding is in 3 months today so much fun planning. I offer this “dont worry about a ting, every little ting is gonna be alright” that is what my wedding planner quoted me Bob Marley I love it, its my wedding motto now! Ahhhh the resentment, let it float over you and not impact on your bridal serenity. The parents will come round they just need to get over the fact it is different, give them a few days to mull it over & they will come round to your excitement level. We always knew doing destination is not convenient, cheap or easy for guests to come.
Congratulations!! Now the good stuff the dress, I have silk (breathable) very light weight flowy dress feels perfect allot of bridal shops put me in corset dresses & I couln’t breath and the fabric was way too heavy, if you are hot & uncomfy in the shop you are definately not going to be happy in the tropics, bridesmaids wearing mid calf silk dresses and guests we have asked to wear “smart tropical” and let them know dress shorts and collared shirts would be appropriate for guys and summery frocks for the ladies, shoes optional.
Good luck shout out if you need any other advice. xoxo
