Hi June Bees!  My Fiance and I got engaged on December 8th and we have always wanted a Summer wedding, but decided that waiting until 2011 was not an option.  This is how we came to the decision that we'd get married on June 26, 2010.... what was I thinking?  I'm learning that planning a wedding in 6 months is no easy task.  On top of our lack of time we are planning a wedding in Durango, CO (where we met :) ), from CA (where we live now), with my parents, who live in the Denver area.  I know, it's totally crazy.

So far I have a venue, florist, 5 bridesmaids, a flower girl (our adorable 5-year old daughter), 6 groomsmen, and 2 ring bearers.  There is so much to do that I'm feeling really overwhelmed... the wedding is all I think about.

I am stuck on picking a photographer, this is something that is really important to me but we're on a budget and I can't seem to find someone that takes great pictures at an affordable price.  Does anyone have any suggestions on finding a great photog?

I am a summer bride too but in July.

First, off try not to stress. Relax.  A wedding can be done and it will be a beautiful wedding.

Have you tried the website Project Wedding.  They have a section where you can find vendors from your area.

This is also a great webite and whenever you need help, we'll try our best.

What area do you want the photographer from CO? You might want to post this question in the Colorado section.

you;re not by yourself, I'm so fr behind in planning, and I've had over a year, but life is busy when you're a student, a mom, planning a wedding and other things in life...but breathe and have as much fun as possible!!!  We're getting married on the same day, so I know your frustrations!!!!

I second what Charm Bracelet said, don't stress. You're planning a wonderful and beautiful day - the day you'll start your marriage. Every time you feel like you're getting snowed under just take a breather and it'll clear your head a bit.

Have any of your friends gotten married? That's where I hit up lots of ideas for vendors and venues when I first started planning and it was the best treasure trove I could have ever found. Ask family members who live in the area or ask friends to ask family members who've gotten married - someone will have good recommendations :) Otherwise have you thought of having friends do the photos for you? Maybe someone you already know is a budding photographer.

Hi FutureMrsP!  You're doing fine!  I got engaged in January of last year, and married in on July 26, so almost exactly your timeline.  You've nailed down a tremendous number of details already with the venue, florist and wedding party!  Good luck finding a photographer, it will all work out.

I think the suggestion to check WeddingWire for reviews is a great one.  Since you're planning long distance, you may want to have your folks meet with someone, and have them pass along more information.  The great thing is that most of what you'll base your decisions on is online in their galleries. I'd follow up with a phone call if you can't meet your potential photog in person, just to make sure you like their personality, since you'll be seeing a lot of them.  Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement!  Since I posted this my Fiance and I met my parents in Durango for a three day planning extravaganza (that's what it felt like anyway!).  We booked the photographer, dj, and caterer, signed the contract for our venue and florist, found a place to rent tuxes and talked to the manager of the restaurant where our rehearsal lunch will be held.  After a very successful trip to Durango, my fiance headed home to CA and I went up to Denver and found my dream dress!

I feel so much better!!!  Next step... invites.  Does anyone have any advice, maybe a tried and true website?

    Thank you again!
