You look just as lovely in the 2nd picture as you do in the first - clearly you transcended your sweat! :)
Congratulations!
you look lovely after! Although your post did make me giggle. We are an indoor ceremony and recption, but photos are outside. Totally worried about sweating!
Congratulations Grnmel! Thanks for the advice, I for one, sweat quite a bit & its all from my face! I've been like this my whole life! Stangely enough, I never thought about having a BM carry a napkin or cloth for me to dab my face if the sweat starts to come! I've def been worried about sweating because its an outdoor wedding, but it will be the end of October and the weather will be cooler. Now after dancing I know I will have the classic wet hair & face, but it is what it is :)
Thanks for the tips & although we girls get a little wet & shiny you prove our pics can still turn out great!
I agree I don't see the difference at all. you look great in both!
You still look gorgeous! I'm a super sweater...which is exactly why my hair will be up...and why I grew my bangs out. Otherwise I'd have a wet, spiky mess on my forehead! Thanks for the tips!
I generally never sweat but managed to on the day of my wedding since the wedding was in the morning. But with TONS of hairspray that wouldn't make my hair move, I am pretty sure the pictures will turn out well.
Thanks for the tips! Guess it's a good thing I'm getting married in December.
Thanks for this post, I'm sure there are a lot of sweaty brides out there! I got hot just during my fitting...so I can only imagine what it will be like at my outside ceremony!
Congratulations! I just went for my first fitting yesterday and was sweating my face off just wearing my dress in an air-conditioned dressing room! I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind for the day-of. Thanks!
yes, brides to be should DEFINITELY heed your advice on vanity police...
When I was a bridesmaid, my bride friend touched up TOO much, and I vowed to enjoy the wedding...HOWEVER here are some things I wish people would've told us!
1) my veil didn't look right in most pictures...needed to be fluffed or tangled out of my updo
2) his hair kept blowing to the center of his forehead so there were big gaps of forehead on either side (it was windy that day) (I know this is nitpicky, but there are some amazing picks of us, if only his hair was more normal...maybe I can get creative w/ photoshop!)
3) I had reverse raccoon...I put way too much concealer on my dark undereyes...I didn't notice it at the time but I did get an airbrush tan that made the color off
luckily, all but the veil probably could be photoshopped, but all of it could've been easily fixed that day if someone had just told me...maybe they didn't want to offend me, so give your attendants/photog permission to gently critique ;)
You look beautiful and thanks for the tips! I've started to worry about heat. I don't sweat much but my wedding day is expected to be 90º! And I went for my first dress fitting and was surprised at how warm I was by the time the fitting was done. The dress is heavier than I thought. Its a lot different trying it on in an air conditioned salon. I'm really hoping the alterations will lighten it up.
Anyway - Congratulations!
Well thanks very much ladies for all the kind words. We haven't seen our official photos yet so hopefully there's a way to difuse the super wet hair shots. Believe me, I sent you the better of the wet hair amateur shots. : )
You looked perfect before and after!
But thank you for your advice you know convinced me to put my hair up and away from my face because unfortunately I do not glisten I SWEAT!!!!!!!
Congrats!
Yes, I agree you look great. But I know how hard it is to look at a picture knowing that you weren't at your best.
This would be a huge challenge for me because I sweat like a MAN -- thanks Grnmel for the words of wisdom. I agree, you looked beautiful before AND after the heat did a number on you.
I'm so glad you had the wedding of your dreams!
Oh! If it's going to be hot there's this over the counter anti persperent called Certain Dri you can use everywhere pretty much to keep from sweating! Also, if your thighs are good close friends, use baby powder lots of it! Put it between your thighs and any other place that might need it. It will prevent chafing and keep you pretty dry. I for sure plan on doing that next month!
I hate being sweaty! I am so glad we are only do pictures outside and the rest is inside. I think brides forget how warm a lot of these wedding dresses can get. Especially the big poufy ones.
You look great before AND after but thanks for the tips! I have pictures/ceremony outsite and a big dress so I'll be sure to get my MOH ready ;)
Im like you - a go with the flow, not too concerned kinda girl. But I could have killed my bridesmaids for not attacking me with a brush or lipstick or anything because looking at the photos, as the night goes on - i turned into a sweat stringy haired mess! I had a great time and loved it - but seeing the photos made me wish I had taken 2 seconds to brush my hair from time to time! :)
Dont worry - its not just you!
maybe some people can use Certain Dri everywhere, but I tried it one time for an August wedding and ended up with a painful rash on my back. Be careful!
I completely understand - I have the same problem!! I have to think about it whenever I go clothes shopping. Despite your wet hair, you look beautiful in both pictures!!
You look beautiful! Thank you for the tips as we also have about a 1/2 mile walk to our ceremony site. It will only be 78-82 degrees but with the dress and all, I'm sure I'll be warm. I have been so concerned over not getting the dress and shoes dirty that I hadn't thought about makeup and hair as much yet!
I have major league face sweat issues when it's hot out so I'm kinda worried about this. I'm going to have to have a small army of women at the ready with all sorts of touch up equipment.
...this post solidified my need for a clutch purse for things like blotting cloths, etc. great tips...
You look great even in all your 'sweaty' glory.
I too never realized how HOT the wedding dress would get. By the end of the night I could have wrung a gallon of sweat out of my spanx (yes, I said spanx lol). Good advice for all the future brides!
I get a super-sweaty upper lip. I'm planning to put antipersperant there for the wedding..
I'd better test that this week, actually. Make sure I don't break out in a rash or anything.

Okay, so I had an AMAZING wedding...one of the happiest days of my life. The love of my life and I celebrating how much we love each other with our very nearest and dearest of family and friends.
Ceremony in the woods that mean so much to us. Traipsing along trails like we do any other day of the week. Our ceremony was out of this world romantic and our reception was intimate, fun and a absolute reflection of us as a couple.
Everything perfect???? Well....almost. Anyone that tells you that they wouldn't change a thing...is probably holding something back and I'm here to tell you that I would have changed just a few things. They're all vanity related, so feel free to judge now.
I was a sweaty mess post ceremony! We had our ceremony at the end of June, with .5 mile walk to get to the ceremony site.Post ceremony we had a "see you at the reception line" at the top of hill in the sun, then took pictures with our family and friends before heading off to explore miles of trails (literally) for picture of us. I simply melted! Two pieces of advice I have:
1) Even if you're a really low maintenance, go with the flow girl like myself...ask someone, like a close girlfriend to be your vanity police.; Have them bring stuff to touch you up, blot your shine (or sweat in my case), freshen up your lipstick, bring a portable fan, etc. You will not want to slow down and miss anything, as well you shouldn't, but someone to take you away for minute or two before pictures is a great idea.
2) If you're a sweat'er like me, really think about how this may play a roll in your day. Dress...venue...activities...hair...ac or no ac, when to do photographs, etc.
At the end of the day...would I have really changed anything???&I would have made slight modifications. Had I known how HAWT crinolin was...I would have ripped it from my dress or just gotten a dress that was bit "cooler". And I would have DEFINITELY employed one of my friends as Vanity Police for sure!
But all in all the day was PERFECT. I never stopped smiling, everyone continues to tell us that it was the most heartfelt, personal and romantic wedding they've ever been to and if the pictures show a sweaty bride, well....oh well I'm a sweaty bride. It was so important for me to look like me on our wedding day.I didn't want to wear my makeup or my hair in a way that I never had before and never would again.
So for all the low maintenance girls that have girlie girl tendencies...this post is for you, a couple of pearls of sweaty bride wisdom.
