Here we are 12 days out from our wedding and my head is spinning in trying to decide when to do the infamous send off. My original plan of a sparkler sendoff after the reception was crushed last week after realizing our city didn’t allow them. BOOOOOOO!
So, here’s the choice I have to make with the corresponding positives/negatives
1.) Ceremony Send Off –
+ We are having an outdoor garden type ceremony, so the yellow confetti would definitely stand out in the photos and our videographers will be there to document this fabulous moment.
– We exit the venue in a boring manner lol
2.) Reception Send Off –
+ We end the night with a bang!
– I’m not sure how well the confetti will show up at night in photos
– Our videographers will be gone by then

I think confetti is definitely a daylight thing, you are right that it probably won’t look as good in the dark. So I vote confetti for the ceremony. But I’m sure there is something else you can do for after the reception… But I’m not sure what. I bet someone else out there has a good idea.

@pohget: I’ve seen a few night time confetti shots, but it really depends on the lighting outside the venue. I appreciate your input 😉

I think daytime is perfect! Just make sure your venue doesn’t charge you extra either way – confetti is a nightmare to clean up, and it may not be gone by the time the next bride wants to use that area for her wedding!

@crayfish: True, I’ll have to double check with the venue about confetti on grass. I know that confetti after reception is cool seeing it will flutter on the driveaway – maintenance just blows it into a corner and cleans up. Appreciate the feedback!

The confetti will be stuck in your hair! If you are planning in doing pics after the ceremony, it will be in the pictures, unless people rip it out of your hair, which will then be all frizzy, or your photog will have to photoshop it out which is a super pain. I said after reception.
