It sounds like you would just be swaping settings, which I don’t think it’s a big deal.  I would switch to yellow gold if that is what you usually wear and prefer.  I’m sure they have an identical ring to yours, but in a yellow gold setting…just have your jeweler switch your diamond over to the yellow gold one!  No biggie!

@STBMrsCJM: If he’s giving you the option to change it, I’d go ahead and do it. You’re the one who has to wear it for the rest of your life and I’m sure he just wants you to have something that you absolutely love!

Since he seems okay with it, just change the setting to the one you’d prefer. You’ll be wearing this everyday and I’m sure he just wants to make sure you love it

Change it!!! It’s something you’re gonna look at all day every day…make sure you LOVE love love love love it.  I’m kinda struggling with the setting-change-guilt as well.  But I think I’m going to go through with it!

If you wear primarily yellow gold, absolutely change it!  I’ve seen identical rings in both colors where the white gold ‘pops’ more, or it could be that the yellow gold setting had a stone in it that just wasn’t as good of a clarity/color as the one you received…in which case you can just switch the stones.  It sounds like he had your best interests at heart and wants you to be happy, so I wouldn’t feel guilty.  It’s not like you’re switching the entire style…just the color.
