I actually had two (keepsake and one to throw) and had both on during the wedding and when it was time to throw, I threw the smaller one.
I didn't do the garter thing, but it is my understanding that a lot of girls get a set, with one more elaborate garter to have as a keepsake and one simpler one to toss. I'd guess whether you want to change or just have them both on is up to you. I may be totally wrong though!
So you wear them both during the ceremony and reception? Then your FI just takes off the one to throw and you leave the other on?
mine's itchy, so i will probably only wear it right before the tossing!
My plan is to wear both of them on my wedding day, and toss the simpler one/keep the nicer one. Just make sure your groom knows which one to remove and toss!
I've also heard you wear both, with the toss underneath the keepsake so it's the first one hubby reaches and he just grabs that one.
Huh, didn't know you needed two. I might go buy a nicer one for a keepsake, but my wedding one is my "something blue"
Yes, if you are doing a garter toss, wear them both. The tossing garter is worn closest to the knee. As far as itchy, get one that is comfortable. They are available in all kinds of styles, materials, and prices.
You crack me up!! If you want one to keep, you wear both of them during the ceremony and reception. When it comes time for him to take it off, then he takes off the first one (closest to the knee) and throws that one :]
i didn't wear a garter, but if i did i would have worn them both. you'll be so busy that night, you probably won't want to go change your garter out.

Ok, this may be really dumb of me, but I am so confused! So, you get a garter to wear during the ceremony? And then you switch to one to toss at the reception? Sorry, but I just don't know how this works!!!
