Okay Bees, so I’ve seen many posts recommending that I hire a professional makeup artist. I’m not completely against the idea, however, I’m not someone who usually wears alot of makeup (aside from the normal mascara and eyeliner, maybe some blush). For the big day I don’t want a makeup artist ‘dolling’ me up where I become unrecognizable to Mr. B. Instead, I want something very natural but more than the average that I normally wear (if that makes any sense) So would yall still recommend a professional coming in? Is there more involved to this makeup thing?

I had this same dilemma about my make-up and choose to use a professional and was very happy about my decision. The reason I chose a professional is because I wanted to feel pampered and wanted to look my best on my wedding day. Plus I don’t know much about the proper way to wear make-up! I ended up using one from a local department store. She did a trial make-up run where she matched my skin tone to a base and where she gave me tips on how to get my skin to look its best by the day-of. Although on my wedding day I still wore minimal make-up like I normally do, I felt beautiful because my make-up artist covered up my eye bags and I know I could tell a difference. I had a couple guests tell me I was glowing 🙂 Basically, I recommend you at least do a trial a month or so beforehand with a professional to see what you think! If you tell them you want the natural look, they are usually pretty good about respecting that! And if you use Bealls or Dillards, its usually free if you purchase one make-up item 😉

I actually started a thread similar to this and there were several differing opinions:
I say do what you want and don’t worry about it. There are pros who specialize in that look or you could do it yourself or have someone you trust do it.
