I am wanting to buy some clothes from the US online but I am unsure of my sizing.
I have used some conversions online which say I will be an 8. I put my measurements into a website and it told me size 6 BUT when I look at photos of different bee’s who say they wear a size 12 I think I look like that size?
I am an Australian size 12 and wear a Medium.
My measurements are roughly:
Chest – 32 inch
Waist – 29.5 inch
Hips – 36 inch

@dannielle89: Mh I would go by the sizing chart. I find that it’s the best way to buy from a website.

@dannielle89: That is more like a size 6-8 (no way it’s a 12 unless you’re talking high end designer sizes)
Typically in the US 32-34 is Small or 3/4, 34-36 is Medium or 4/6, and 36-38 is Large or 6/8, 38-40 is XL or 8/10, you get the picture. This is for pants or skirts. I’m not as sure about tops..

What is the brand you’re looking at? We might be able to tell you if sizing runs big or small, depending on the brand!
From your measurements, you sound about my size, and I’m usually a six. But this varies so much depending on the brand!!

I’m looking at Forever 21 and Modcloth

Yeah, definitely go with a 4 or 6. I’m from the US and my measurements are 36-26-37, and I wear a 4. (you would probably be a small or medium top, depending on how tight it is at the waist)

I would say you are a small top. For bottoms about a size 8 bc my waist is the same size and I generally wear an 8 Or maybe a 6 since your hips are small. Each store or brand has its own size chart though so you need to check it before ordering. In Forever 21 I will wear a 29 in bottoms or a medium or large bc my hips are larger than yours.

Just so you know, forever 21 tends to run small and short- much more “junior” sizes, built for skinny teenagers. That’s not to say people who aren’t teenagers can’t pull it off, I just know that at 22, I’m starting to feel like I don’t fit into their clothes as well, because I’m a little curvier (i have a waist and a butt, now!) and prefer a little more fabric over my midriff! I have a very petite upper body, small shoulders and bust, etc, and I still feel like some of their tops are a little constricting.
Modcloth sizing varies a lot on the brand, so be sure to check out the sizing charts and read the reviews! A lot of their dresses tend to be very short, as well, so make sure you measure the length of a dress you own so that you know approximately where it will hit..

Forever 21 tells you the height and weight of the model, though, which really helps me when deciding on a size!

I think you’re probably about an 8…? I always thought US sizes were 2 smaller than Australian but I could be wrong. Forever 21 does run kind of small though.

Sounds like a 6, you’re small in the hips, could even be a 4.
my waist is 26 and my hips are 39.5. And I’m a 6/8.

It sounds to be judging by your waist that you’d be an 8.

@dannielle89: i am not familiar with modcloth but forever 21 is high fashion cheap. just to warn you, the quaility of clothes isn’t that great. only expect it to last a season.
i’ve never had luck with their stuff, i find some of the clothes fits awkwardly.
