I am getting my wedding band engraved but I am not sure if I should engrave it on the inside or out. My Darling Husband believes it to be a waste of money to engrave it on the inside. I had to go with a plain band due to the setting on my engagement ring but not sure if the writing on the outside of the ring would clash or actually add some character to the ring. Any thoughts? Thanks

Most engravings are personal messages, and therefore go on the inside of your ring. Minimally, this includes the wedding date, but can include initials, and a short message or phrase. I have not yet seen an engraving on the outside of the ring, but I can imagine it working, as long as the message isn’t personal/private.
By the way, I LOVE your ring!

@KH: Thank you! We were only going to put our nicknames for each other and our wedding date. I’m going to hold off and think about it some more.

inside, definitely. it’s not a waaste of money. you don’t engrave it to show off!

Ok if you intend to have a message or something personal it should totally go on the inside. Outside engravings are decorative.

We put it on the inside. Outer engravings just look a little off to me.

Thanks ladies, I will keep the engraving on the inside. I myself dont think it will look right on the outside as well. Maybe I’ll get some kind of design on the outside eventually so i it wont be so plain.

I agree with e PP’s about engraving the inside of the band.
