I am confused and could use advice. I saw this slumber bear which I am thinking of purchasing, but it doesn’t have a recommended age on it. The review on there makes it sound like it is for a newborn, but I understand that nothing apart from the baby should go inside the cot as it is unsafe (no bears, no bumpers, nothing)? So, is it safe to use this for a newborn?

@Mrsluckywife: You could try putting it on a chair next to the cot for the first few months so that the baby is safe.

@Cariad: Good idea, thanks!

No expert here, but from everything that I’ve read, nothing should be introduced in to the crib until after 9 – 12 months (blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, etc). I’d suggest talking to your OB or pediatrician (if you’ve already chosen one) before buying- at least that’s my plan!
Don’t you love all the worry that comes along with a new baby? =)

I’m a nurse and this is adivce I gave to all new moms. You’ll miss the toys more than baby!

When my younger brothers were babies this helped them sleep tremendously, so I recomend buying it, but don’t put it in the crib. Leave it right next to it where it won’t easily fall into the crib.

Alternatively, there is the sleep sheep, it has velcro on the back to velcro it to crib bars. We velcro it up near the top, so (1) she can’t reach it, and (2) it’s not sitting on the floor of the crib.
We have used it every single night for 7 months.

@MRSLMA: Thank you for your advice 🙂 I know I’m getting really nervous about everything and getting confused with all the conflicting info that’s out there.
If we get the bear I’ll definitely put it on a chair and not in the crib.
@Quietserenity:That’s so cute!! I have added it to my possible shopping list.
