I'm not getting married until Sept. 19, 2009 but pleased to have the time! I am pretty weddingbee-obsessed, although I don't usually comment on the boards too much either.
We're getting married on the lawn of the Branford House (historic mansion) at Uconn Avery Point, in Groton. The reception will be inside!
The Farmington Club was our runner up for venues. It would have been perfect because our ceremony would be so close, but we are having a smallish (150 people) wedding and they wouldn't give us the big building.
I stumbled upon weddingbee a month ago and have been hooked. It has replaced my addiction to bridal magazines. This at least is a cheaper addiction!!!
Anyone using a bagpiper, by the way? I would love to hire one for the processional after the ceremony.
My date is 10/11/08 with the ceremony at St. Joseph in Danbury and reception at Rock Ridge Country Club in Newtown.
I'm looking for a bagpiper as well Rachel, my FFIL was supposed to be on the case, but so far we have no one. I'm also looking for the possibility of having two violinists at the ceremony, but have yet to begin that search. I'd love to hear any recommendations if you guys know of anyone!
It sounds like we have a lot of brides for next year. Where are you guys at in the planning stages?
I guess since I am coming down to the wire, I am doing ceremony programs, final meetings with all the vendors, directions (since my family is from out of town), and timeline stuff (so I know what I have to do the couple days before the wedding).
I would love to hear what you other girls are doing.
Hello, bees! I'm getting married May 9th of 2009. We haven't picked a site yet, but the Mill on the River in South Windsor is on the radar. We're actually having some difficulty because we live in Arizona, so we're basing our opinions on venues largely on websites. We're looking for something not too much of a haul from Bradley, though. Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions in the >$80 a head realm...?
Kristaleigh... have you checked out the Litchfield Inn?? Two of my friends got married there. They are in your price limit... and it's a pretty nice place.
I booked Glenn Andrew for our videographer.... he was the only one I was impressed by and we met with several! I don't know about his availability, but he lives in Brookfield so it's perfect for you :)
We are getting married October 4, 2008. Ceremony in West Hartford, reception in Simsbury. We live in Virginia, so its been a lot of internet and phone work! :) Thank goodness for weddingbee.com
Keep posting, I love hearing from other CT brides! Where is everyone having their rehearsal dinners??
I am getting married, 9/19/09 in North (not New) Canaan in Litchfield county on the family land.
If anyone has suggestions for caterers or photographers, I would love the help. I'm planning this from Philadelphia and I have to maximize what ever time I take to go up and plan.
Best wished to all of you CT brides. You picked great places for your weddings.
I just got engaged 3 weeks ago and am now starting to plan a May/June 2009 wedding. My FI is from CT and all of his family is there, so we're in the process of looking at venues in CT.
I live in NYC and am from Virginia, so any suggestions on locations would be appreciated.
Let the countdown begin! (if only I knew the count... :P)
Hi Connecticut Bees! I know you're out there! Looking forward to perusing some awesome bios and sharing tips with all of you!

I got married in Bermuda in Oct 2007 and had my reception at The Italian Center in Stamford in December 2007.
I'm still addicted to this web site....if anything, great ideas for future bridal showers and friends' weddings.
