Hello there!
When are you getting married? What do you have planned?
July 10, 2009
Ceremony: Avon, CT
Reception: Southbury, CT at the Heritage Hotel
Hi there as well! It's good to finally have a local board.
I love reading this website but I dont usually participate much.
I am getting married in less than a month! June 14, 2008
Ceremony: Bristol, CT Reception: Farmington Club, Farmington, CT
Wow! Congrats to you both! This is exciting!
I'm not getting married until Sept. 19, 2009 but pleased to have the time! I am pretty weddingbee-obsessed, although I don't usually comment on the boards too much either.
We're getting married on the lawn of the Branford House (historic mansion) at Uconn Avery Point, in Groton. The reception will be inside!
Keep posting and happy planning :o)
Yay CT brides!
September 20, 2008
Ceremony - Brookfield
Reception - The Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield
This is fun!!
The Farmington Club was our runner up for venues. It would have been perfect because our ceremony would be so close, but we are having a smallish (150 people) wedding and they wouldn't give us the big building.
I stumbled upon weddingbee a month ago and have been hooked. It has replaced my addiction to bridal magazines. This at least is a cheaper addiction!!!
Anyone using a bagpiper, by the way? I would love to hire one for the processional after the ceremony.
:-) Rachel
Hi all,
My date is 10/11/08 with the ceremony at St. Joseph in Danbury and reception at Rock Ridge Country Club in Newtown.
I'm looking for a bagpiper as well Rachel, my FFIL was supposed to be on the case, but so far we have no one. I'm also looking for the possibility of having two violinists at the ceremony, but have yet to begin that search. I'd love to hear any recommendations if you guys know of anyone!
It sounds like we have a lot of brides for next year. Where are you guys at in the planning stages?
I guess since I am coming down to the wire, I am doing ceremony programs, final meetings with all the vendors, directions (since my family is from out of town), and timeline stuff (so I know what I have to do the couple days before the wedding).
I would love to hear what you other girls are doing.
Hello and congrats to all!
I got married in Bermuda in Oct 2007 and had my reception at The Italian Center in Stamford in December 2007.
I'm still addicted to this web site....if anything, great ideas for future bridal showers and friends' weddings.
Hey! I'm getting married June 21, 2008 in Manchester at St. Bridget's/Country Club. It's coming up so soon! I'm super excited!
Glad to have a local board!
Hello, bees! I'm getting married May 9th of 2009. We haven't picked a site yet, but the Mill on the River in South Windsor is on the radar. We're actually having some difficulty because we live in Arizona, so we're basing our opinions on venues largely on websites. We're looking for something not too much of a haul from Bradley, though. Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions in the >$80 a head realm...?
Kristaleigh... have you checked out the Litchfield Inn?? Two of my friends got married there. They are in your price limit... and it's a pretty nice place.

It's about 45-50 mintues from Bradley
Christine,
I booked Glenn Andrew for our videographer.... he was the only one I was impressed by and we met with several! I don't know about his availability, but he lives in Brookfield so it's perfect for you :)
Hello CT Bees!!!
We are getting married October 4, 2008. Ceremony in West Hartford, reception in Simsbury. We live in Virginia, so its been a lot of internet and phone work! :) Thank goodness for weddingbee.com
Keep posting, I love hearing from other CT brides! Where is everyone having their rehearsal dinners??
I'm so excited about a CT forum.
I am getting married, 9/19/09 in North (not New) Canaan in Litchfield county on the family land.
If anyone has suggestions for caterers or photographers, I would love the help. I'm planning this from Philadelphia and I have to maximize what ever time I take to go up and plan.
Best wished to all of you CT brides. You picked great places for your weddings.
We booked KM Photography based in Clinton, CT.
They were really down to earth and you get two photographers for the price of one!
Hi all,
I just got engaged 3 weeks ago and am now starting to plan a May/June 2009 wedding. My FI is from CT and all of his family is there, so we're in the process of looking at venues in CT.
I live in NYC and am from Virginia, so any suggestions on locations would be appreciated.
Let the countdown begin! (if only I knew the count... :P)
Hey! We're getting married in September at Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington, CT. Can't wait!
Hi everyone!
I'm getting married Oct. 4, 2008 at the Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield.
Rachel--I want to have a bagpiper too! I haven't started looking for one yet, though. I feel like I'm woefully behind in booking vendors. :(
Junage,
Where is CT are you looking at? I am sure we could throw out some ideas if we knew which part of the state you want to be in.
Sar417,
Looks like you're the closest to me so far! North Stonington is nearby our wedding local- Groton! Yea! Interested in any recc's you have to offer in the way of vendors, etc.!
Doesn't it sometimes feel like NOBODY but you is getting married in our little state? Either that or EVERYBODY you know, right? ;o)
Hey ladies I am getting married September 26, 2009 My reception is at the Four Points Sheraton in Meriden
Hello, all!
I'm an unengaged bee, but wanted to introduce myself none the less! I'm from southeastern CT, and was so happy to hear that two of you are using Avery Point and Jonathan Edwards -- two beautiful locations!
Congratulations to all!
Hi everyone. My cousin is addicted to this site and I thought it was finally time to post. I'm getting married at The Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury in September of 2009. My fiance and I went to about 30 wedding venues so we definitely saw a lot of places (but not near Hartford and not too many in Stamford and none past Branford but we did look up Route 8 to about Waterbury).
Our first choice was actually Woodwinds but since they wouldn't add things to their contract, I took my business elsewhere. All I wanted was a place with a white gazebo. Although The Amber Room is renovating their gazebo and it better be done by next year.
I guess I'll be busy reading suggestions off this site! Take care.
Anne
I live in Boston but am getting married on June 26th at the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial.
If anyone can give me tips on a florist and hair/makeup (both with reasonable prices!) I would love you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also as an add on to the post I just made...
Its really important to my FI to have a minister perform our ceremony (that will be at harkness) Does anyone know of someone connected to a church that will perform a ceremony somewhere other than a church?
And since I'm not from the area I was also wondering if someone could give me some hotel options where I could reserve rooms. I was told to book a hotel off of Exit 75 on I95 but the only "hotel" I could find was a 15 room motel. (Not enough rooms and looked a bit less than wonderful) I've tried google searches and they're only giving me hotels closer to New London but its more confusing to get to the Mansion from there.
Are there hotels off exit 75 that does room blocks that I just didn't see?
HIYA CT Brides!
I am getting married in December 2009! Our ceremony will be in Fairfield, CT and the reception is at Cascade in Hamden, CT. Happy Planning everyone!!!!

HI all - I'll be planning a wedding for about 150-190 in the Hartford area in the next few months (TBD). I keep hoping to find some unknown fabulous inexpensive reception venue but so far I haven't uncovered any such secrets...
Look forward to more detailed planning once I get the ring! ![]()
Hello CT Bees
I got hooked on WB about 2 months ago and it has been a lifesaver, from DIY to dress shopping to the agonzing guest list.
31 Days left till our big day.. wow!
Our ceremony is in Bristol, CT and our reception is in Avon / Canton area... 120 people (and counting). How is the Connecticut planning going???
Yay Future Puida! You are getting married in my neck of the woods! I am from Burlington! Are you using any local vendors for your flowers, DJ, etc??
9.09bride: For your ceremony musicians- Have you considered contacting colleges and seeing if any of the music students will be around and avaliable for your wedding. Music majors are always looking to get some performances under their belts and you could generally negotiate the price.
Here are all of the department head's email addresses at Hartt School of Music:
