• Wedding: September 2013 - Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park

I was a Connecticut bride last year and was raised in a small town around the Glastonbury area.

Date: September 7, 2013

Venue (we had our ceremony outside and reception inside): Rocky Neck State Park (it was nice to have the beach right there and the water as a back drop)

DJ: A Night To Remember (we used Ray before for other events and loved he always could size up to the crowd to find the best music)

Photographer: Marsal Studios (LOVED them! They did an excellent job and for their services it is all day from the time you get ready to the time the reception ends. None of that limited time, limited pictures crap)

Caterer: Cloud Nine Catering (red velvet cake with cream chesse frosting is to DIE FOR!)

Mrs- Thank you! We actually booked Aria the DAY after we got engaged (March 6th, 2014) because I knew of their high demand, and ended up securing the LAST Saturday available in the 2015 season. It was one of those “meant to be” moments, so to speak. We wanted a fall wedding, on a Saturday, and were hoping we didn’t have to wait until 2016. Their last day just so happened to be October 3rd, so we snatched it up over the phone (we were in FL at the time) and I ran over the day we got back to place a deposit.

I know as their popularity increases and more and more people start attending weddings there, they will be the place that’s booked 2 years in advance. They’re already starting into 2017 weddings, they JUST had their one year anniversary.

Mrs. Mongoose: Thanks! It’s very funky. We were looking for something a little bit different.

Mrs. Mongoose:
What a great question. I’m thinking of it myself, because while my parents are kind enough to supply the blank checks for all of the big stuff (venue, photographer, DJ, flowers) I’m paying for the extras myself (dress, videographer, stationary, etc) and I’m planning it myself. My parents don’t have a clue when it comes to this stuff. It makes me nervous because while my friends and family are great, I’m that type of person where I want things done MYSELF, because I trust myself to do it the way I’d like to see it. But it’s kinda hard when you’re the one getting married!

Our venue provides a maitre d’ for the day, but not sure if that will be enough. I’m hoping the day-of timeline schedules I’m planning on drafting will help!
