    Hello,

This is my first time posting as I am not getting into the initial stages of planning my wedding (yay!)  I think finding a venue is going to be the most difficult part.  I'm looking for a venue that has space for at least 200 guests and that will allow us to bring in outside caterers.  I'm looking for a location in the Fairfield County or New Haven County area.  Any suggestions??

We are getting married at the Stamford Hilton and they allow outside caterers.  I know the Greenwich Hyatt does as well.  One thing I liked about both is from March/April to October they both have a tent on site, so we're having our ceremony in the tent and then our reception in their ballroom.  The tent is a semi-permanent structure so it's beautifully decorated with draping and chandelliers.

One little note with the Wadsworth though, is that they charge $500 extra if you bring in outside caterers...they do provide quite an extensive list of "approved" caterers, though.

I was thinking of looking into Wadsworth but we have 200 guests possibly and I was told that no one room in the mansion could accomadate that many and I would hate to have to split up the guests into different rooms...

MeelaBeela- you're right. I think they try to limit each ballroom to 100 guests.

The nice thing about the mansion is that the ballrooms are on either side of a gallery/loggia, so if you did want to go with the Wadsworth and ended up separating your guests, at least everyone would be in the same are of the mansion (you can see the floor plan on their website). This being said, though, i do understand your not wanting to separate the groups.
