@MrsBrown13:  I didn’t vote because I’ve only been to one (Maui).  I lived there for a year back in 1998-1999.  I loved every second of it.  We are taking our honeymoon in Oahu/Kauai because we both wanted to go somewhere new to both of us plus FI really wanted to visit Pearl Harbor.  I have always wanted to go to Kauai because of it’s remoteness and tropical look.  Maui has a good mix of low key and more exciting things to do.

My FH and I are doing a ten night Maui honeymoon. We are only staying on one island, because I’m terrified to fly and only want to have do it once! Haha. But we chose Maui mostly because of what AP said, it has the perfect mix of low key relaxation, but there are also a ton of fun things to do. My FH and I love to relax, but we can’t just sit there for ten days on the beach. We wanted to mix in things to do (and there are a TON). I’ve done a lot of research so far on what we are going to do (kayaking, Road to Hana, snorkel, whale watch, zip lining, a luau). I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Maui so far! 🙂

I love Oahu. There is so much to do, such good shopping and amazing restaurants. Waikiki is very lively and fun, and the North Shore is very laidback and chill.

Kauai is the most picturesque, but Maui has more “stuff” to do but is still very picturesque, so it’s more balanced as far as lounge/luxe time and activity time.  Oahu has even more “stuff” to do, so Maui is a nice middle-of-the-road/compromise.

I personally would honeymoon in Kauai, but FI, who craves sightseeing and activity, would prefer Maui, I’m sure.

I didn’t vote because I have only been to Oahu. That’s where we went for our honeymoon.

But we loved it so much that we’re going back in three weeks!

@MrsBrown13:  I’m 24 and I have never flown either. Haha! I am deathly afraid of heights though, so I am hoping my FH can drag my butt on the plane. We already have our airline tickets, and I’m not losing a 1,500 deposit on our package that we got. So, I HAVE to go now. But I am terrified. 🙁 My flight is only 5 and a half hours though! So I guess I’m lucky..? LOL. Every time I get scared about going on a plane, I look at pictures of Maui. It helps. Haha!

@MrsBrown13:  FWIW I found my flight to Hawaii very relaxing and I don’t mind larger planes.  I am sometimes a nervous flier if it’s real bumpy but I find that to happen more often on the smaller planes. I like having a drink or two to relax if you’re nervous.  I used to fly into some smaller aiports with 2-1 seating plans on the planes and I had some of the worst flights ugh.

Like I said on the other, I would do Maui if it’s your first time.  Road to Hana was amazing and a very fun day.  I think it would be more relaxing than Oahu so better for a honeymoon.  If I went I’d do Kuaui because I like hiking and I’ve already been to Maui.  I’m not really into Pearl Harbor or spending my vacation shopping so that’s why I would be less inclined to go to Oahu.

Maui is AMAZING! There is a great mix of adventure (ziplining, hiking, bike riding down a volcano, snorkeling, etc.) and relaxation (mai tais on the beach, sunset cruises). It’s also SO romantic!
