The sleepy thing sort of is usual for this time of year, at least for me but the heavy feeling in the arms is worrying.  You should see a doctor!

Seconded on the thyroid check.  A complete thyroid panel, including free T3, T4, and ferritin.

I feel the same. Is it winter there? I think it’s SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder. You need more sunlight and vitamin D or a SAD lamp you can put on your desk at work !

Either that or I should really lay off the tequilla. KIDDING ! Innocent

@JenniCobalt:

Well, I know it’s winter where you are, fellow Canadian. !!

K, not pregnant. Low Anemia?

I know I need a banana a day to keep me feeling alert.

Yep i agree with the pp about the thyroid condition, I have hypothyroidism as well and just chalked up to being stressed, I feel so much better now with medication!

On the other hand, it could just be stress 🙂 Best to see a doctor and get some blood work!

Anaemia/borderline anaemia is usually the culprit there. You could go to the drugstore and get a decent quality iron suplement, they’re not dear at all, and try that for a month, see how you get on. One of my FSILs is like that when she doesn’t take her iron, and she doesn’t suffer from hugely heavy periods, either. Worth a go!

Yes, get your blood work done.  I did b/c of similar symptoms, but it turns out I’m as fit as a fiddle…

So if that’s not it, for the arms, make sure you do some good stretches and try to fit in a good exercise routine (I know it’s hard to do when you’re tired, but you really get more energy from it as it becomes a regular thing!).  Also what helps me for that 3pm slump is some pulse point cream – I like Total Energy from Body Shop – and maybe an dose of Emergen-C.  Usually it does the trick to boost me up for those last few hours of work.

@JenniCobalt: basically it’s like strongly scented lotion to put on different pressure points, like your temples, between your eyes, back of your neck, and inside of your wrists.  Works like aroma-theraphy whether it’s ginger scented, peppermint, etc.  Along with what I mentioned, Aveda has Blue Oil which also works wonders!
