I used to wear contacts in college and just recently started wearing them again. Now I remember why I hated them... my mascara keeps flaking off in to my eyes and itching like crazy. Not a ton of fun when you teach and can't leave the room to fix the situation. Any suggestions for mascara that won't flake and get in my lenses?

I only wear Maybelline Great Lash.  I have not found any other mascara that doesn't flake into my eyes.

I've had good luck with Almay mascaras.

I wear Lash Stiletto right now and even though I love it, it's driving me nuts! I was thinking about using the clear gel kind, but I want something that will lengthen them too. :)

Not sure if you girls know this, but waterproof mascara is actually worse for contacts in terms of irritation.  Something my eye doctor told me once.

I wear contacts on occasion, right now they're too expensive (I have to get really special contacts because I have many eye conditions), so I mostly wear glasses. I wear lancome mascara or avon and both work really well.

Just keep on switching mascaras till you find one that doesn't do that.  Mascara is one of the few things that my veganism falls to in favor of my vanity.  I cannot do without contact lenses and so I use a mascara that doesn't flake and doesn't have harsh chemicals (rubbing eyes with contacts in=terrible horrible failure), but it does have one animal-derived ingredient.  Sigh.  But it works really well.  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P255101&categoryId=C20378&shouldPaginate=true

The brand also makes a few other varieties that are still sans harsh chemicals and stay on eyelashes well but are a bit cheaper.

Water proof is definitely worse!  I have dry eyes and when i switched back to normal the regular mascara is way better!

<---sensitive eyes/contact wearer and I SWEAR by non-waterproof mascara. My current fave is lash stilleto by maybeline. If it weren't for my allergies, I'd be wearing it today! lol

I switch labels as much as possible--but I have never had any problems with regular Great Lash mascara by Maybelline.  It's an old stand by, and i've never had any problems with it.

But if you are a crier.. and you use Non-waterproof, that just seems like a mess waiting to happen. I mean, I'm not going to be sobbing, but it will be emotional for me!
