I may be a bit biased because I'm having my girls walk down to Adele- Crazy For You but I think the instrumental version of Someone Like You is gorgeous. I wouldn't really worry about the lyrics (seeing they won't be sung anyways), I don't think anyone will be thinking "OMG how could she choose THIS song" lol.
I am also planning to have instrumental music playing for when my court walks out and when I walk out as well.
My song for the court is "1000 Words" instrumental from the Final Fantasy collection (we are big gaming nerds haha)
And for myself, I am thinking about one of the instrumental songs from "Titanic".
So I think its a great idea if you are planning a non-traditional wedding or if you want more "personality" of yourself and groom to show (which is why I am doing things that both of us like and enjoy)
Best of luck!
@nishaes: Go for it! We are also having contemporary music. We just booked a guitarist to play 2 contemporary Christian songs (1 at the start of the ceremony and one during Communion/Braiding Three Cords) and also to play a pop song when I walk down the aisle. He will be playing and singing. I wish we could afford to have someone play violin with him..that would be awesome.
This was a done deal for me and I didn't want to sacrifice this part of the ceremony. It makes it truly personal for your day.

I want to use some instrumental versions of songs I love but Im not sure if some of my choices are appropriate??
Someone Like You - Adele
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if8epsj52Gw
right off the bat you are probably thinking about the lyrics to this song and thats what im trying to avoid because well they are about love failing and are not entirely "wedding appropriate" and thats what i thought too until i stumbled upon this and fell head over heals for the instrumental version on the piano (all our ceremony music will be piano or organ)
This would be the first song played during the prelude while guests are being seated and would be followed by:
I also plan to add in a song from the Harry Potter collection right before Claire De Lune because fiance and i are both major HP dorks!
As a wedding guest would you be put off by the non traditional songs? Any specific thoughts on Adele? THANKS!!!!
