I posted here about the sudden bizarre contract issues we were having with our ceremony/reception venue: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/contract-mistakes-venting
She had planned our timeline as this (after we told her what we wanted)
2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Ceremony
3:00 – 7:30 p.m.: Reception
After seeing that, we e-mailed her saying that was not at all what we discussed and that this is what we want our timeline as (as we had discussed):
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Ceremony (allowing for lateness, wheel chairs, not being rushed, etc.)
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Cocktails in the reception room to allow for pictures
4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.: Reception
We were told we had from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. to decorate both rooms and that we’d need an hour for breakdown, ending at 11:00 p.m.
Now, after this e-mail, she replied that she’s never had a reception last longer than 4 hours, so she was “allowing” us 4H30M and that it’s actually two hours for breakdown and the day needs to be clocked in at 14 hours in total. Decorating would begin at 9:00 a.m. News to us!
Say what? These words were never uttered by her during our consultation meeting and we asked questions that would have allowed her to explain all of this and there’s nothing in writing about this!
We asked a friend who got married at this place, and he sometimes works for the facility, and apparently the lady who we’re dealing with runs hot and cold and changes her mind on a whim!
We e-mailed back, again, explaining our confusion and asking why this breakdown of hours was never told to us and why she’s assuming what we want. We explained we want a 10:00 p.m. end time, so we’ll gladly begin decorating at 10:00 a.m. to allow for the two hours for the breakdown time.
I’m so frustrated! Our friend who has his wedding there and works with her as said he knows the lady’s boss and if this continues, he’ll help us. I don’t feel like we’re being unreasonable and I’m angry she’s assuming and planning on our behalf and not being up front with details!
Please tell me we’re not the only ones who have gone though something like this…
