I hate animal cruelty, truly, and the last time I went to the circus..although I enjoyed it, I could see the sadness in the eyes, especially of the elephants and horses. One horse even started throwing up during a performance. It made me so mad, the trainer just made him keep going..Personally I would have told someone to take the horse out of the performance and go get it care. I really wanted to believe that there was more cruelty than having them transported a lot, but it just isn’t reality. You can see the proof on their very bodies.

I’ve actually never been to the circus.. so I can’t say that I’ve ever supported it.

I support circuses that don’t use animal acts, or exoctic animals (really other than poodles and the like, because usually they love to perform and well, I assume they get treated more humanely than, say, elephants and tigers).

I do not support the creulty that comes with exotic animal acts, and would never go to a circus that has them.

I do think that the tricks that PEOPLE can pull off are absolutley incredible though.

Nope. I refuse to go and I will not take my future children there. All I ever hear are horror stories about how the animals are treated. It makes me mad because when I tell my friends this they blow it off and still take their kids. Wtf?

There’s an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee that mainly takes in abused elephants from the circus. I donate to them every year.

@Barbiestylez:  No. And I don’t recall ever being attracted to circus / circus animals during my childhood either. After I saw a documentary about the elephants when I was a teen, I never encouraged it.

@glitter-girl:  From Québec, le Cirque du Soleil is also animal-free. 🙂 But it’s more theatrical than ”freaky-ish” like circus (or the idea I have of traditional circus) usually is.

I love things like Cirque de Soleil in which humans are doing these amazingly athletic things. I took an aerial silks class once and it is SO much harder than it looks.

I will never go to a circus with animal acts though. I’m sure its entertaining from the audience, but I don’t even want to think about how those poor animals are treated when they aren’t performing. It should be outlawed.

Nope, not any where animals are involved.

I remember going to one when I was about 8 (only time I’ve ever been) and they whipped a tiger and I cried so bad.
