I finally decided on my bridesmaids dresses, but now I’ve been going back and forth trying to figure out if I should go with the short or long one. Here’s a little background info so you understand my dilemma…
There’s almost a whole foot height difference between my shortest and tallest bridesmaid. Shortest being 4’11 and tallest being 5’9 – I would like to try to even their heights out a bit (I’m 5’9 with my heels) so I was thinking of making them all wear the long one so the shorts ones could wear high heels and the taller girls can wear flats without it being seen. BUT, the shorter girls are complaining that the long version will make them look even shorter and drown them out. I don’t really like the idea of different shoes of different heights either.
So now I don’t know what to do… long or short… or both? Another option was to have 2 short and 2 long, but I’m afraid that will look funny.
I attached pictures of the dresses that I pulled off the website http://www.henkaa.com. HELP! Let me know what you think…

I would go with the short dresses.

short! Mixing short and long kinda looks odd IMO but if its something that you decide you want for your day, then by all means!

I like them both. I think that if you do both it will look great. if you wrap one short and one long the sameway and had 2 diff ways it would tie them together well. IMO
Can you go to the store and try a few options out? That might help you decide how it looks on all your girls.

I say go with the short. the long dress will just make the shorter girls look so small.

usually i’m ok with mixing short and long, but the pic of the short and the long dress doesn’t look right to me. and i agree with your BMs – i think long dresses will make the girls under 5′ look really short. so i voted all short.

I think short are super cute and definitely can wear again. Unless you absolutley want all the girls the same height, I wouldn’t worry about them being the same…. that’s not them anyway! Let them be comfortable too… no one really looks at their feet anyway.. they will all be looking at you!

Thanks to all of you who responded so far.. I’m still on the fence though. One of my bridesmaids lives out of town, so unfortunately, it’s not possible for them to all go to the store and try it on at the same time.
I agree that in the pictures with just the one long and the one short looks a little funny, but what if there were more of them? I have 4 girls total in my wedding party – well, one of them is a groomswoman, but I’m going to put her in the same dress.
I just don’t know what will look worse – different length dresses, drowning out the shorter girls or drastic height difference?
Anyone have any pics they can post of bridesmaids wearing long and short dresses? Or with girls of various heights (preferably 1 whole foot of difference) wearing the same length dress?

so the poll tells me to go with short… since it’s also cheaper, I think I’m going to go for that. next question is, do you think it will look funny if all the girls are wearing different shoes? like flats for the taller girls and high heels for the shoter ones?
oh and any pics would also help if you have… thanks!

I think short will look best, especially with the bright color. Unless your short girls are wearing 6″ heels, there is still going to be a pretty drastic difference, so I’m not sure it matters what kind of shoes they all wear. I think it will look fine if they are the same color and style- so, gold strappy sandals, or black pumps. Then your girls can wear whatever heel height they want to, and the shoes will still look similiar.
