We decided that we definitely want to have a cookie bar at our reception. I’ve been very busy baking and baking…and baking…for the past month, wanting to be sure I’d have enough cookies for our guests.
A friend mentioned the other day that some people may make multiple (gasp) bags of cookies and that I could run out if I didn’t account for that. I’m thinking of having the “cookie bags” placed at each seat instead of having a stack of them at the cookie bar so that making more than one bag is not an option! Is this okay?
Also, if I do decide to have one bag per seat, what should they say? How can it be explained that they are supposed to visit the cookie bar with the bag? A sign on the table in a photo frame or something stuck to the bags? Help please!!

I think youre going to have some people take more then their “one bag” regardless. I think you need to trust that a majority of people will only take their “share”. Maybe have a bridesmaid monitor the table to help out and make sure people arent pocketing the cookies:)
We are doing a gourmet popcorn bar, and I am trusting that my guests wont take advantage of it. Also, not everyone is going to want cookies, so I think you will be just fine 🙂

@MsLouella: That’s true, so you think having just a stack of bags up at the “bar” is the best way to go? Thanks for your advice I appreciate it 🙂 Popcorn bar sounds awesome!!

… my cousins wedding they had cookies, just bagged in a big basket. The food wasn’t very good from the caterer and there were lulls with nothing to do…so many of us… me included… took more than one bag of cookies. Awful I know! You may want to consider putting them out towards the end of the night or somehow tell people it’s a going home treat/favor?

I’m doing a cookie bar too and I did buy some extra bags! I think I bought 125 for our 105 person wedding….I know some people will take extra, but I also know some won’t take any! I wouldn’t worry too much about it, though, and if you are anyways, you could do what PP suggested and have a BM keep an eye on it!
