I don't live in PA, but I'm using jars from Target, WalMart and Ikea. They are fairly inexpensive.
Cookie trays can be tricky. I would put one family member in charge of them. Have that person collect the cookies the day before then transport them to the reception site the day of. Check with your venue because some of them will plate the cookies for you. If you have to plate them yourselves, I would search for inexpensive platters from maybe Ikea to display them on. Or you could ask family to plate them on something nice! Make sure they put their names on stuff so they don't get lost too!
My family is huge on cookies so my mom and aunts are experts at arranging trays. At my reception, the venue provided trays, so my mom coordinated to have everyone drop their cookies at our house a couple days before the wedding, and then had people drive them to the reception the day before so that they could arrange them. But at my brother's wedding, they did not tray the cookies. My mom again had people bring the cookies to our house and she and I arranged them on some silver trays that she bought (I think at Pat Catan's?) inexpensively. So many cookies... mmm... :) All my friends who were from out of town thought the cookie table was awesome!
Extra tip: have some baggies (cute ones you can buy at Michaels) at the table so guests can bring extras home. If your family is anything like mine we had way too many. At the end of my reception I actually made up 2 baggies of cookies for my husband and I, which we snacked on at the hotel that night and at the airport the next day. Came in very handy :)
Yeah, my venue anticipates/expects cookie tables so the plating and replenishing of the table is included in the price. We'll drop the gathered cookies off there when we go to set up.
Thanks, everyone! My wedding is in Philly and the caterer (and my family) is utterly baffled at the idea of cookies, so I have to make it as user-friendly as possible. Looks like dropping the cookies and either the jars or platters off the day before is the way to go. I'll just have my FMIL spread the word.
Lilac, great tip. We're using them as our favors, so we got coffee bags for them. I'll definitely have my wedding planner make baggies for us though!

Hi Pgh brides! I'm wondering how you all are planning on displaying cookies at your reception? My FSIL had them laid out on doilies and still in tupperware (!), so I'm trying to avoid that.
Also, what are the logistics of getting them to the reception? I don't want people bringing them to the wedding!
