So my fiance are seriously wanting to copy this awesome engagement shoot where the engaged couple are lovingly sharing a deliteful picnic in a field when out of nowhere they are attacked by a vicous ZOMBIE!!! They struggle and fight off the zombie by cutting its head of with a shovel (it's implied, no blood or gore) and then they hug and kiss because they are so in love, and apparently zombie attacks occur frequently in thier lives so they just carry on.... See the zombie engagement shoot here

I have tried to think clever ways to make this our own but really I think it's at its optimal awesomeness (and if it ain't broke, don't fix it)

What do you think ladies? Would it be totally lame to copy the story line completely? Or do you have any suggestions to change it up a little?

I think the idea of zombie engagement photos are kinda stupid personally. But to each his own. I wouldnt copy their story line directly though.

I think it's funny, but I also think if I had done that, a few years down the road i'd think "wow, that was crazy, what was I thinking?!"

before this were you guys BOTH obsessed with zombies? if so id say go for it. if not then in a couple years you may feel silly.

the first shots picnicing are super classy and you can use those for announcements. the zombie shots can be the "silly" shots everyone usually has to do anyways like jumping in the air and laughing.

i read the title of the post and my initial thought was itd be stupid. but then i clicked the link and i loved the photos (and im not even into zombies)! i like the last one when the girl is holding the shovel in the air in victory. :)

I think it would be a good idea to come up with something original and that means something to the two of you as a couple.  Do you have a special spot where the two of you go?  Do you do a sport or something together?  I think themes based on prominent places, moments or activities in your life is more original than using someone elses idea and will mean more to you down the line!

Copying it?  I have never heard of it before sounds unique to me.  Someone mentioned on another post that only those currently planning weddings are obsessively pouring over other people ideas.  If you like it do it!

I'm sure y'all have something that's unique to you as a couple. Don't just copy someone else's really unique idea.

I think it's really corny and the zombie trend is on its way out anyway. Plus it's just kind of uncool to take someone else's original idea IMO. I had seen the zombie shoot before you posted it, so if I saw your shots I would think it was really unoriginal.

I'm gonna go against the grain here.  If you love it, do it.  BUT, it would only make sense if you two both LOVE zombies and spend your weekends watching horror movies, the walking dead, and playing left 4 dead and dead island on xbox.

If that isn't the case, then you're probably going to wonder WHY in 10 years.

Not the first time I've seen zombie themed shoots. My brother and his wife did one.

I personally think it's dumb, I don't see the appeal in zombie related stuff at all. I've been waiting for the whole trend to go away since it first cropped up. That's just me though.

You wouldn't be copying them, there are a lot of shoots like this being done. Do what makes you happy. If you and your FI think it's awesome, then it doesn't matter if other people think it's lame.

ETA: Also, my brother's wife got the idea from that shoot too. They just tweaked it and made it their own. I guess by "not the first time I've seen them", I mean that couple might be the original, but others have done it since then. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery or something like that, no?

Wow, no offense, I thought that was horrible. If you guys are totally in love with the idea, I say go for it. It's your wedding!  Just because others think it's pretty silly doesn't mean you should change your mind!

Ok, as most of you know, I'm from Pittsburgh, where it's almost blasphemous to say that you don't like zombies. But I'm gonna say it anyhow. I don't like zombies.

I don't think zombies and e-shoots go together at all, unless you're one of those obsessed couples who live breath and die zombie, have a "zombie plan" etc etc.

If not, keep it to halloween.

I knew a couple that did this and the pictures came out great! The bridal party were themselves and the guests were the zombies. Even grandma got into it ;)

i think that shoot was hilarious, not to mention original and nothing i'd ever seen before.   I think if you're both adventurous and like to do things out of the box and be openminded, then go for it.   i wouldn't copy it exactly but twist it to make it into your own.

I, personally, don't like it. It's just not really my style. But I'm not really that kind of "jokester", I tend to have a drier sense of humor. If that kind of thing is "you guys", then you should do it!

@Bubulubu:  I think if you like it, go for it and have fun. If you notice with that shoot they also have some nice couple photos sans zombies. Talk to your photographer and see if they are willing to play along.

My hubby loves zombies too, I'm not sure if he'd have wanted to do this. But I think it looks like they had fun.

I think it's cool, why does everything wedding related have to be so frickin' serious anyway? Plus it is a way to get your man excited about the wedding planning.

I love how the photographer captured their expressions (and both of those two in the couple are good enough actors to pull it off).

I have some zombie-loving friends who I could see pulling this off really well: and if you're anything like them, go for it!

I personally, have spent too many late nights in the lab working with cadavers to find any appeal in zombie anything.

The original shoot was funny and different, but copying things to me is unimaginative.  Take inspiration from it, do a different spin on it, but don't copy.  Also it's one of those things that may not seem quite as cool to you now, so I'd advise you to do some serious "normal" photos before the zombies come out so you don't have a bunch of photos that you're looking at 10 years down the road wondering what you were thinking then.

I thought it was beautifully shot, made me chuckle, and I appreciated it.  Then again, I watch The Walking Dead.

That said, I wouldn't do it.  Unless zombies are something both of you have loved for a while, they way other people love horses, hiking, cars, etc., I fear it's too bold of a statement to make with something like your engagement pictures.

If in five years you guys wanna do an anniversary shoot and still love the zombie idea, I would totally go for it.

I gotta add though - if you do decide to do it, please post them!  I'd love to see something like this again.

    Thanks for the input.

mousegirl: Your point about there being some of your usual sweet engagement shots is one of things that really appeals to me about the idea.

Jamie42003: I totally agree. I don't think that everything wedding related has to be super serious.

My fiance and I enjoy being silly and the randomness of a zombie attack is unexpected and hilarious to us. We are not people that take ourselves too seriously. Of course, our decision to get married and the vows we will exchange will be taken seriously, but I think we should have fun with the rest of the wedding process. I mean, we 're even going to do a trash-the-dress photo shoot after the wedding!

    We're gonna go for it!

If you guys are really into zombie movies (truthfully) or it has something to do with your relationship...then ok.  But to just do it because it's different (and it's really not, you're copying it) then I think it's really lame.

Wow with all the hate. It's horrible, people would be mortified, etc. WOW. That's some pretty harsh language.

I think that if you guys are non-traditional and want to do something wacky, then do it! We very nearly did a post-apocalyptic, Fallout themed e-shoot. And honestly, I feel like engagement pictures are for the couple, not anyone else. As long as you love them and will enjoy looking back on them, then who cares what anyone else thinks?

Oh, and I hired my photogs after seeing pictures of a zombie themed e-shoot they did where the couple were dressed as zombies.

I've seen other zombie e-shoots and I think they're a lot of fun - if you love zombies, do it! They're not typical and would be fun to look back on when you're older (and fun for your potential future kids to look at, too). And as a PP said, there would still be a handful of cutesy couple shots minus zombies.

So first of all, I have to say that I love zombies. If you guys do too, and you want to do it, go for it! It's not lame at all :).

I would definitely get some good photos of just the two of you sans zombies that you can share with your elderly relatives who might not understand how awesome the undead are, though! :D
