Ok….so here are the inspiration pictures I used as well as a description.
There were only a few things I was adamant about…..I said I wanted movement in the skirt. No silver beading and detailed lace over the front and lower back.

I’ve been pretty easy going about it, but I have been specific about those few things. (Back of the dress without sleeves)
I didnt want beading but Coral advised me she would do beeding with clear beads and pearls subtly over the lace…..
This was the first set of pictures I received.
Please help….am I being to critical? I am sensible enough to know that a replica will never be 100% the same not even 85%….but this is NOT what I asked for. I wanted it to be subtle and as close to the pictures as possible. I even used the words….not blingy or sparkly.

Brummie1985: I can’t tell if the dress in the first picture is beaded or not. I think the problem here is that you stated you wanted no beading, but sounds like she talked you into it? Can you ask if the beads can be taken off?
The other thing I notice is that the lace on the straps in the original picture at the top shows the lace better – the lace edges extend farther than the strap material. In the replica, it appears that it only extends slightly.

Brummie1985: It looks like they’ve used beading embellishment rather than lace. ( I don’t know the fancy names of these things) but I think I would also be a little disappointed as it is not giving the same effect as the original dress, which is not what you want! You may get replies saying ‘You will never get a good replica’ but in this case, I am sure they could have done something a lot closer to the original than what they have done. I hope you get it sorted out.

When she told you that she was going to use beads (clear or not) did you tell her NO?

Its not. Or at least I said I didn’t want beading originally. When I agreed to the beading….I said only on the breast part, shoulders and lower back in pearls and even sent pictures of simiular beading work I liked. But the beading was to be subtle, no blingy or sparkly, and agreed upon pearls and clear beads only. If they take the beading off…..there is no lace over lay on the top half of the dress?!?
Yes, I agree about the straps. They are thinner in the original picture, with an applique over the top. In the replica the straps are a lot wider and have a lace trim, which does not extend over them. I’m pretty gutted to be honest. But just wanted to see if I was being too harsh. Yeah that’s not really close to the pics you sent, I’d be upset too. The top looks very stiff in comparison to the soft, delicate first picture you posted.

Brummie1985: I would let her know that it is not similar to the original dress. I agree with PP’s – looks like the original dress has a lace overlay on the bodice/straps, down to the sheer panel at the waist. In the last close up picture, looks like the beads are sewn onto some sort of lace material – maybe a lace applique that already comes beaded, so she sewed the appliques on the bust area? and it does not extend to the sides of the bust/torso area, that part looks to be just plain fabric.
Can you tell her you don’t like the look of the beading, and you want the top part to be lace similar to the original dress.

Brummie1985: I think, considering that it is a replica, the dress is gorgeous. However, I would be upset with the beading, if you did not want it. I do agree with PP that she used emblisments instead of lace on the dress. It actually should not be too hard for her to replace.
