I think you did right. Mermaid trumpet gives the bottom extra flare which is what the dress calls for.

Can you go back and try on sample with the two different crinolines?

Oh well is it from that salon because maybe you can exchange it or sell it if you like the other crinoline better ?

I had this dilemma. I went for a mermaid crinoline as I didn’t like the feel of a hooped crinoline around my ankles. But then I kept drooling over pics with brides wearing my dress with fuller volume so on the advice of rom other bees, I went back to the Anna, tried it on again with a hoop and then exchanged it.

So you can see the effects here’s the sample with a mermaid crinoline and 2nd dress on the day with a hooped crinoline

@ifheaven: Just noticed my Ipad changed some of the words in my last post, like from shop to anna?? It’s so frustrating.

Anyway, Yes it was a hoop. I didn’t think I’d be comfy in one but on the day it was great for when the dress gathered around my feet I just flicked the hoop and the whole dress moved. I’d try one on and see what it looks like so you then know. I was surprised a hoop was suitable for my fit n flare dress, I thought they were more for ball gowns etc but it really showed the detail and emphasised the fit n flare, here’s another pic

I looked on craigslist for mine, maybe if you go back and try on/take pics of the sample dress w/the other, you can make a more informed decision and find a once used one or ask for an exchange if it comes down to it (you couldnt really tell the difference in my dress whether I wore the aline or mermaid style though).

@ifheaven:  ahh thanks. Wish I could do it all again. Mine was a silk dress, I don’t think you’d see it as my friend had a hoop for her tulle dress. I got mine from the bridal shop. See if you can try it on with a hoop

I think the model is wearing a mermaid/trumpet crinoline and she’s tilted and that’s why you can’t really tell.  I think you made the right choice.  It’s a beautiful dress btw!
