Many dresses are made with fine material that doesn't handle the weight of a corsage well, or may tear. A good alternative is to give the moms a tussy mussie bouquet. You buy the holders, put together a simple bouquet in your hand, secure the bundle with floral tape , then slip it into the holder. These are carried rather than worn.

@julies1949: Beautiful!
I was actually going to make a wrist corsage anyway (because of the dress conundrum) but that still didn't solve the ruining it problem. I can handle a simple bouquet much better than all the wiring/wrapping/pinning of a corsage.
Thanks for the idea!
Wrist corsages would look great. I'm going to buy leis for my wedding instead of corsages.
I found this while asking myself the same question last weekend - I've not tried it out.... but look good

What is a good alternative for our mothers/grandmothers (four women total) to corsages? I'm making everything myself and these seem a little overwhelming for the day before. My Bouquets I can handle, but the corsages are so finnicky I'm getting nervous I'll ruin them or they'll wilt or whatever.
