I am going to shamelessly bump this post bc I am curious =)
You can do that, for sure! Just bring pictures/inspiration to a seamstress and they can help you out with ideas for design. My dress was changed to a corset back...I used a thicker ribbon, but that's because I wanted a color pop! =)
You should be able to take a picture into your seamstress so she can accomodate for the smaller ribbon!
I normally hate the look of a corset-back dress and LOVE the look of covered buttons, so when I went to try on my dress (by Pnina), I was worried that I wouldn't quite be sold on it just due to the back (though I loved the rest of it SO MUCH), and I knew corset backs were her "thing" so I probably couldn't ask her to change it. But then I tried it on, and you're right about the smaller ribbons. I instantly noticed the difference when I tried it on, and found it so much more pleasant/less cheesy looking. And boy did the corset suck me in. My waist is usually fairly small but the definition I had with the corset was incredible. So yeah...I'm sold now!
I have also heard of corset backs being covered with covered button pieces. Perhaps that's an option for you?
Thanks ladies! I have scoured the internet collecting pictures of the type of corset back I want and I guess I will just have to sit around and wait until I get my dress to see what I can do
@Vegan - I am so happy to hear you had a change of heart, that is exactly how I feel about buttons/zippers s the corset backs. Thanks for your insight.

@becoming - I have no idea, sorry I just googled corset backs and this one came up and I was like *sigh* Swooooooon! so I save the pic to take to my seamstress =)

I am currently putting myself through pain staking workout in order to lose 25 pounds, it is something I have been trying to do for a few years but never had anything to truly motivate me until I decided on my wedding date. I love my dress and I love the zipper back with the buttons over it, but since I will be shedding pounds and getting some "work done" to the girls I am starting to wonder if I should have a seamstress put a corset back in. I dont "not like" them, I just love the classic look of the buttons, have since I was small. If I do decided on putting the corset back in, is there anyway that I can use a smaller ribbon, kind of like what Pnina's dresses have or something similar? I just would prefer that to the bigger ribbons that are mostly used. Has anyone seen smaller ribbons used? Whats your opinion? My main concern is my dress fitting loosely on my wedding day, I had a friend that lost a few lbs before her wedding and the dress was too big and it looked not so good.
