My mother laced me up. She had some practice and did fine. The alterations lady also showed her how it do it. Getting in wasn’t so bad, but getting out took forever!

No it’s not hard to lace it or tie it. Especially if you have someone to help you and make sure the bow is just right and everything. You shouldn’t be lacing it tightly since when it’s built into a dress like that it’s not meant to be laced tight so don’t worry about that part. Just make sure the ribbons are flat and that the bow looks even. Also, those type of dresses usually tie at the bottom of the “corset” part which makes it even easier to tie. I wear a real, high quality, custom made corset almost daily for back problems and I can lace that just fine on my own and let me tell ya, real corsets are *much* harder to lace than the kind that’s built into dresses for decoration. You can practice ahead of time if it makes you feel better, but honestly I think you’ll be fine. 🙂 I might make one suggestion though. Lace it loosley before you put the dress on. That should make it even easier to get all the ribbons flat and make the bow pretty once it’s on as opposed to threading the laces through and everything after you’re wearing it.

It’s just like lacing shoes, really. : ) Just make sure the ribbon is flat & they cross over each other the same way, and you’ll be fine!
