Traditionally speaking (by that I mean when they were everyday wear), the strings were tied and left hanging. At least, that's how all the ren-faire people and art work depict it. And the ren-faire people are often NUTS about getting the clothing historically accurate... wool in summer? yeah, they do that.
IF I can get the back of my gown redone to a corset, the strings will be tied into a pretty bow and left hanging. But, that's because I prefer it that way.
Try it both ways and see what feels the best for you.
I plan on tucking, for sure. I feel like the strings are out of place if they hang.. but, that's just my taste.
I am tucking mine in. Check with the bridal salon as far as what looks better. Not sure what you mean by fancy way to tie a knot. Also, if you are tucking it in make sure it's between the crinoline and dress, that way you won't get the ends of the string tangled in your legs. Also, they can trim the strings so they aren't so long.
I tucked mine. It looked unfinished with a floppy bow and long strings hanging but its definately a personal opinion and it may look different depending on your dress. Just try both ways when you try it on.
I'm tucking mine. They bugged me when they were out. Yes, that's my super scientific reasoning..
Thanks ladies! I have tried it both ways, and I think I prefer the "tucked" look.
For the ladies who did tuck it, could you still see the knot? or did it completely disappear and just look like a seamless magically held together corset.
I can see the knot even when it's tucked and I don't know how I feel about it.
Will anyone even notice? am I being overly picky about a silly detail?

Hi All,
I'm having trouble deciding how to leave the strings of the corset. Do I tuck them in, or do I leave them out? Honestly, I'm not quite sure I like how it looks out. I think the random ribbons look kind of unfinished or something?
So, my question is, did you tuck your strings or leave them in a bow on the outside?
And, is there a fancy way to tie the knot?
